Rob Mason

He’s still in denial that September 1880 is the real foundation date for Sunderland AFC, despite the lack of evidence for 1879 and the overwhelming evidence for 1880.

Other club historians have offered to debate the subject, but so far the offer has not been accepted.

Always enjoy Andrew Smithson & Kelvin Beattie’s encyclopaedic knowledge on Roker Report podcasts.

I'll pass this on to them!

Andrew has actually co-authored a book with Rob Mason and does a lot of Rob's proof reading for his books, theyr'e good mates.

Yeah I don’t get this either. What I’ve seen presented it’s 1880. Still not seen something concrete to suggest it’s 1879.

Great guy. He was actually my form tutor and ~English teacher back at school (Oxclose comp)

He knew me Grandad too - they used to sit next to each other for years at Roker park for the reserve games. Was nice to see him on the recent TNT FA cup show about Sunderland
