The Mags benefited from the early PL years and the bit of success. That gained them a few armchair and plastic fans. The amount of Irish Mags I know who couldn't tell you anything before 1992 is unbelievable. The numbers have tailed off in the last 5 years.

2000/01 we averaged just under 47k and the vast majority of the 12-1500 empty seats were in the away end and the segregation.
Same goes for the season before, when we averaged 40,500 - the capacity was 42k then.
Even the year after the two 7ths, when we were crap and finished 17th, we still averaged over 44k.
