RLB will be gone before next season

My main observation is that the OP is a pommy shirt lifting Sheila ..

The weakness has been winger / creative recruitment and in this case, game attitude.

The talk on here is absolutely unbelievable.

We're on course for a top 10 finish, in our first season back in the Premier League and some deluded "fans" are calling for him to be sacked.

We do have areas of improvement, but to call for our manager to be sacked is embarrassing.
Couldn’t agree more mate

Without Xhaka we would be where Burnley are
To me that is a damning indictment on RLB
A 'damning indictment'. You're making it sound like getting promotion with a cheap/young squad to the Premier League and getting us safe by March, despite the failure of many other promoted clubs is a terrible resume. Yeah let's give absolutely zero credit to RLB.
How many points did we take off this premier league giant Palace this season ?

In a one off game we could beat anyone. We messed up a huge opportunity by that shameful performance on Sunday
Yeah and in a 'one off game' FA Cup shocks happen.

If it's the same as last season and the writing is on the wall, why wasn't he sacked at the end of last season?

If it was promotion that 'saved' him, then I'd say the current league position has achieved the clubs targets like promotion did ... what do you know or see that I don't?

All Regis needs to show us is some modicum of ability to evolve and to be able to adapt. Previous managers and coaches were so stuck in their ways that they were incapable of changing the narrative. They were not able to be willing to try new formations and tactics. I would love to think RLB is willing to alter things because something somewhere isn’t working.

This season is the same as the last, Regis has a squad with about 13 decent players which he has to keep in and around the starting XI without a break.
By January they suffer fatigue and injuries and suspensions kick in and results suffer, it's not as a result of poor management it's a waifer thin squad.
He demonstrates what can be done in the first half of the season with fresh players. Improve squad depth and allow him the opportunity to rotate players without detriment to results and we'll see what he can do. A decent 15 goal a season striker could also bolster his chances of pleasing a few on here.
It's pointless saying he's not got it in him to take us higher when he's not got the squad to do that. Which Manager has managed to do get a squad of players into the top 6 of the PL without spending £500M + and having 20+ PL quality players.
We need to establish ourselves as a PL club and continue to bolster squad depth for at least another couple of seasons before being able to properly compete against the top six.

Vale was a bad result but look at the bench we had as a PL club, will it be much different against Brighton?

Im gonna be pragmatic about this . The Vale exit was a pisser but its one game and we won't be the last PL club to go out of the cup on a shit pitch . Many of the players werent ready culturally for the experience .
That being said the pattern with Regis is that if you take his preferred players away he's not the greatest on getting by on charisma ( see the french relegation ) . He dropped very lucky being provided with exceptional young self starters and Xhaka on top pulled it together for him especially during AFCON . Being decimated by injury hes not really got the best out of his second string or brought on last years squad ( Hume and Ballard excepted) .
We're going to invest money again close season and we'll have no sentiment about who we give it to . I think there is a possibility that Regis will be under scrutiny from higher up over the remaining games of this season , if he falls away badly it might be enough for KLD to decide hes not next level and he'll become the Dan Neil of the management world . Never let us down but just not " it" .
Im not diminishing what Regis has done or saying he wont follow through on it , i really really hope he does , but if it looks like he can't we'll be looking . That will however require a step change in management on a Xhaka level of equivelance if its not to be a throw of the dice . I dont know if even KLD is that much of a high roller .
In Regis we trust 4 points off Brighton and the Mags , finish the season full squaded and he's laughing teacakes .

Good post and spot on.

At one point I didn't think he'd see last season out but he's, overall, done a fantastic job. Sunday was a stain on our history but it's not something he can't come back from. Some of those players may not though.

My feel about RLB is that, like Speakman, he'll take us to a certain point and then move on. I think that RLB has the potential to be a great manager but he'll reach his ceiling with us.

When that is I have no idea, but I'd suggest he'll be here start of the next season
Potential to be a great manager.

But reach his ceiling with us.

Explain please as sounds a bit contradictory

He’s done really well. You build’s team from the defence. We have one of the better defences in the league. In the summer we we build on the forward line hopefully. It’s always a work in progress but he’s made us hard to beat in the league.
More than happy with him

Fair enough.

I guess my statement means that he has the potential to be great, but the EPL as we know is a very, very demanding league and I dont think he'll have the opportunity to reach his potential here if results dont go his way

I know from my own career trajectory that I leave a role, reflect and then try and do better in the new one. I think the same will happen with Reggie
