I watch boxing and have enjoyed plenty of fights so I’m a hypocrite perhaps, punching someone in the head for entertainment is ridiculous in the 21st century and should have no place in a civilised society, the only argument for it continuing is the participants know the risks and agree to it

Very similar indeed.
His was a narrative verdict too so not officially a suicide either in terms of the usual annual statistic of about 6k.
Be interesting to know how many thousands of cases there are like this in terms of men deemed as 'taking their own life' in the public perception but not actually classed as such.
