RIP dad

So my dad passed away at 1655 today. We knew it was likely to be today and I planned to watch my last game with him even though we would only be there in body. Whatever happened today I was going to tell him that Luke had just lashed a screamer into the top corner to win it and we've finished 7th and are in Europe.

So I had the game on the laptop and the lads did us proud - He was unconscious and sedated and passed peacefully. I hope he heard some of my dodgy commentary. This was our 50th year of following the lads together. What a milestone.

He told me he picked out Sunderland in a 1956 FA cup draw at school which lead him to follow them. I'm not sure that's true as his dad and grandparents were from Shildon and Canny Hill..Either way I'm glad he did and passed that down to me.

Joanne Youngson was amazing and got me some Heaven Branch grass clippings in 24 hours so he had those on his pillow this afternoon. Thank you so much Joanne.

Sorry for this post, I just wanted to share the news that another MLF has passed.

He won't be here next week for Chelsea but I'lll still run through the match report with him. Cancer sucks. Haway the dad x
Sorry for your loss, as someone who has gone through this process and pain of close bereavement, I think your courage and compassion is admirable and your Dad will be there with all the MLF cheering us on from heaven ❤️‍🩹👍

Sorry for your loss mate, I suffered the loss of a parent fairly recently and it’s horrible so chin up lad!
At least you got to sit watching the match with him as he went, that’s how I’d wanna go if possible with my boy by my side watching sunlun.

Rest easy cabbages dad

So sorry to hear of your loss mate. What a lovely send off for him, having you by his side as the lads smashed Everton away.

Wishing you and your family all the best during this tough time.

Ha'way The Lads.
