Results Like Last Night Can Happen

These games happen, hopefully we can put it behind us and win a couple of more games before the end of the season. Bad day at office but remember the bigger picture, fantastic season

I don't even think we were that shit, it wasn't like an excellent side played a shite one. In open play it didn't look a battering to me, just every opportunity they had led to a goal.

We deserved to lose, but just didn't think it was as one sided as the score suggested

Agree with this.

I’ve posted this before, and I know there are plenty about who are not fans of xG on here, but it was 0.7 v 1.1 according to Flashscore last night (pretty sure that’s changed since last night - I think they originally had it at 1.29?). That’s a significant different.

Even just looking at this season, there have been similar results such as:

Bournemouth losing 4-0 at Villa
Villa losing 1-4 at home to Rosenior's Chelsea
Bournemouth losing 4-1 at Brentford
Everton losing 1-4 at home to the Mags
Palace losing 4-1 at Leeds

I've purposely removed the relegation/relegation threatened teams to show that other sides who are having decent to excellent seasons are not immune to bad days or performances either.

Of course we didn't exactly help ourselves, but other teams at this level have quality players too. Shit happens.
We beat palace away 4-0 the season we got relegated and stunk the place out.

I expected us to lose like that a few times this season tbh.
And it will happen again. So if you can't take it it's probably best to give up

I honestly think that us being at home against a really good team that are fighting to stay up had a massive positive impact on their performance. We couldn't deal with their press and they took their chances when they got them.

I don’t you’ll find many home beatings between sides so far apart mind. Most of those games are either between sides very close to each other in the league or home teams winning. A five nil away win between a team a few points off 6th and a team still in the relegation battle ain’t very common.
So far apart?!

4 places and 7 points with 4 games left, after our best season in 20 years

Some people are as deluded as the mags

Just looking at the stats on the BBC report we were well ahead on some key indicators. 61% possession, twice as many touches in the box, more shots. Yet we get thumped five nil. Sometimes we get lucky, sometimes we don’t. We had no luck last night.

What about conceding 4 the game before?
