Bucket of warm water and a cloth. Rub wallpaper backing with wet cloth until it's soaked and then scrape off with scraper.
Ffs this is gonna ruin my weekend
I've seen that said elsewhere but seems like a right faff on. Won't the steamer do that but quicker?
Need it off for the plasterer unfortunately

Nah man. It takes two seconds. Stick a piece of plastic over the floor at the bottom of the wall. Ask the missus where she keeps the mop and bucket. Fill bucket with warm water and washing up liquid. Stick mop in bucket and then apply to wall as if you were mopping a floor. Leave for a few minutes to really soak in and then unleash your big scraper.
Second advantage is that it gives the skirting boards a good clean before they get repainted!

This seems incredibly efficient and a laugh at the same time
Mags aren't playing either. No kids or wife to do it?
Go on niceonelad get the fuckers teltJust stir 1 cap-full liquid softener into 1 liter water and sponge the solution onto the wallpaper. Let it soak in for 20 minutes, then scrape the paper from the wall. If the wallpaper has a water-resistant coating, score it with a wire-bristle brush before treating with the fabric softener solution.
Or just use the steamer.
Hire a floor sander and hold it at 90 degrees against the wall.Once the top paper is off, what's the quickest way to get the backing paper off to allow for the wall to be replastered?
Will it be best off just using the steamer again?
He never noticed me at all...Woodchip?
Tell him to stick his heed under it..Hire a floor sander and hold it at 90 degrees against the wall.
While it is plugged in remember to take it into the bath with you to clean it afterwards.
Had the steamer on taking the top layer off and tbh the backing has never really budged.
