I was never a huge fan of McLaughlin to be honest.

Good shot stopper but the amount of times we had good counter attacking chances and he did that thing where he would pretend to throw the ball and then not bother throwing it and lose the chance to get us up the field was criminal

His distribution was fine. The fans screaming for him to throw the ball out to one Sunderland player when he was surrounded by three opposition players was probably a bigger problem.

Conceeded 76 goals last season, had the season finished he might have been knocking on for 100, including 21 goals against in 4 games in september . Not saying he is the reason they done awful but his confidence must have took a massive beating after last season.
