Regis le Bris - confirmed

I think there’s three types of appointment:

1. Someone notionally better than where we are with a good reputation. Although MON and Moyes were that and it didn’t work out

2. Middle - typically someone you’ve never heard of like this bloke. Could go either way

3. Beale/Grayson type - everyone can see it will be a disaster a mile off 🤣

I’m just relieved he’s a 2 and not a 3.
If he can improve the French lads we already have 20 or 30% and we bring in the other players we need then who knows?
This is where I’m at with it. There are no guarantees with any manager. Theres been a few appointments that look great on paper that turn out a disaster. Sometimes your face either fits or it doesn’t. Even when it works out it can go sour in an instant.

I do get the scepticism and reading all the stuff people are making up to justify his record has frustrated me, but by and large I’m just waiting to see how it goes.
So... won't be in until 7/1...

Is that Doddsy running the drills and blowing the whistles for training this week then??
Are they actually back this week?

Isn't the point, if the 3 stooges and the Austerity Model stops him improving the team, he will do a Neil/Mowbray and walk ?

Sure I read somewhere that they’re back late this week.

Having read a substantial (possibly unhealthy) amount on RLB and all of the other candidates over the last 130+ days, I am more optimistic about him than I was about Beale. Granted, that’s a pretty low bar considering Beale was, and probably still is, a chancer with coaching badges.

It’s encouraging that he's bringing in staff, but let's not get into a clapper-type circle jerk just yet.

This is a new country and league, and it’s a tough, competitive one. That adjustment may take quite a while.

RLB, as I think many would agree, has got his work cut out. The board and Speakman have burned too many bridges, and the real pain may lie ahead when we may have to part with (some or all of) Clarke, Ballard, Neil, Hume, and Rigg.

I believe we as fans have to support him in his role. As stated by others no one knows if he will be a success or not. We have had high profile managers who have bombed here and not so fancied managers who have done quite well

What gets me though is this constant spin by Speakman and KLD trying to take as mugs and not knowledgable around football
Remember KLD’s coaching quote regarding Beale which in all fairness had nothing to do with bigging up Beale but all about himself for recruiting him

Now in relation to Le Briss he says we are delighted to have attracted someone of his calibre.

What calibre

He has managed for 76 games. He didn’t get his professional coaching Licence until 2022

I take on board he has managed youth teams which is an area which will help in his role here but to try to spin this appointment off as we have made a significant coup is insulting to the fans.

It’s not as if he was an experienced footballer. He played 93 senior games

So I am not sure where his stock in the game has been highlighted for Speakman to use the word calibre

I will be surprised if we lose more than one of them.

I’m just reading more about him, it’s certainly an interesting pick, obviously a huge gamble

they clearly want someone who likes to work with young players, which this bloke does, he’s older than likes of Beale n dodds too so maybe more authority, and obviously hopefully talent too

You know the main thing that puts me off is that he’s with the same agency as most our French players. So can’t help think that’s why he is in the frame rather than him being headhunted

Fair post yes

Last line yeah is the worry, these French lads we’ve signed just aren’t in their league, both talent wise, attitude and ability to lead and play Wednesday and Saturday

I was hoping we’d move away from these French lads as they just haven’t worked at all

The clubs fault there is so much disparity amongst the fans - on here at least - if they’d cracked on got him done within a month of Beale, wouldn’t be this much animosity towards a coach who hasn’t coached a single game for us yet.

Football fans tend to cling onto negativity but this is a bit ridiculous
