Regis le Bris - confirmed

.. Just googled, does he speak English. First post:

"Le Bris, who speaks English, has managed Les Merlus U19s and B team prior to stepping up to the first team. Highly regarded by those at the Stade du Moustoir, he signed a five-year deal in the summer of 2022."
Thanks mate, I feel a reet muppet now

Common parlance in football these days. I kna where you're coming from with Speakman like, he's full of it. I think in a recruitment process he'd naturally gravitate to someone 'aligned' with his wavelength.

As long as he's not a blue sky thinking nitwit like Little Lee I couldn't really give a shite what he has to say. Just get some results on the board.
I think there’s three types of appointment:

1. Someone notionally better than where we are with a good reputation. Although MON and Moyes were that and it didn’t work out

2. Middle - typically someone you’ve never heard of like this bloke. Could go either way

3. Beale/Grayson type - everyone can see it will be a disaster a mile off 🤣

I’m just relieved he’s a 2 and not a 3.
If he can improve the French lads we already have 20 or 30% and we bring in the other players we need then who knows?

Funnily I bumped into Lee Johnson in Clifton Village in Bristol a couple of weeks back. He still feels harshly treated. Reckons the drop off last season was because he wasn't doing the recruitment. I was diplomatic, and just wished him all the best for the future.

I see he had Aouchiche at Lorient.

After finishing 10th, the club sold €50m worth of players, including their top scorer for €22.5m.

Ya can see why that might have been problematic for them.

and barely played him and sold him for less than he bought him. Bet he never thought he's end up with the same manager coming to Sunderland.
I get the impression buying and selling players wasn't within Reggie's remit.
True but RLB had a good season there in 22-23, possibly he just had better players than Auochiche? Doesn't necessarily mean there was a problem.
From what I've seen of Aouchiche it wouldn't be hard.

There's literally no evidence or reason to come to that conclusion though. We've signed three players from Sport Cover but we've signed many, many more from elsewhere, we've signed one of their clients as manager but we've also signed all the others we've had under KLD from elsewhere.

We've only signed a current Ligue 1 manager out of desperation because his agent and KLD are mates? As conspiracy theories goes, it's pretty stupid.

We also have 6 players on the books from CAA Base but we quickly made sure everyone knew the Lampard rumour was a load of shite, weird considering our good relationship with that agency.

Of course it is just a conspiracy theory and nothing else, people look far too much into things when often there is nothing there. Will Still had a different agent but we almost got him.

It appears he had a difficult ending to his time in France.
His home was given attention by the authorities.
There were questions around 'the model' on one of the links.

Looks like he started teh season with injury problems...

They were flying at the start of the season, so you can see why it might have been difficult for Aouchiche to break into the side.

The aforementioned top scorer they sold in summer 2023 was actually loaned out in Jan 23 anarl. He'd scored 12 in 18 for them before joining Nice on a loan/buy deal.

Sounds like their supporters are worse than those Sunderland lads who kidnapped Donald's daughter!
