And the irony there is that if/when we start getting big fees for players, it actually justifies how we have been operating in recent years. How that money is reinvested is the part that's open to scrutiny for me.

Pretty much this. Ever since the BCB fiasco it seems to be one cock up after another and the time we spent to get someone in was baffling. He is confirmed now and hopefully the players like Neil and Rigg once spoken to the new man will commit to future contracts. The proof in the pudding is what transfers in and out happen to support the new coach and what sort of ambition they really have.

I am very hopeful he can get a better tune out of the French lads already here and he gets my full support from the start. I don't think many want to be positive after all the shit but it will only happen if the fans give him our support, and the top brass give him the players to be able to coach

I have mentioned it a few times to the RAWA lot but I suspect I’m ploughing a lone furrow as it seems a bit niche. But for me it’s absolutely essential to get it defined. Otherwise the fanbase are stabbing in the dark with our praise or criticism

Honestly the more people that mention it the better imo. Go for it.

My only suggestion would be to keep the question very simple and completely focussed on getting them to define Sunderland’s “playing identity” (KS’s words) to avoid any openings for them to obfuscate

An excellent trainer, that’s undeniable, and we can only thank him for the way he ran the training center. A very good first season as a coach is also undeniable. And then there was a big incomprehensible breakdown at the end of the season, he isolated himself, cut heads and as a result cut himself off from the rest of the club, he persisted in his mistakes and ultimately didn't take responsibility for much. It could only end like this and it's honestly a shame because the story was beautiful all these years, but really ugly in the last year.

The club does not lose anything financially, Fery does not lose face by being forced to keep his coach, and RLB clearly has a promotion which allows him not to assume the failure of this season. All is well in the best of all possible worlds.

I think that RLB has the means to do great things elsewhere, we saw good sequences at times at home, and it was not by some of his players. If he is well surrounded from a recruitment point of view, that will already be that. On the other hand, I don't know if the Sunderland supporters will be as patient as those of Lorient, who still ate lukewarmly for months and months.

It's up to him to prove that he can handle the pressure inherent to his position, and that he is capable of obtaining rapid and lasting results.

I am satisfied with its replacement but I find the general tone against it very excessive. Certainly the honeymoon did not last very long but when I came out of Abbé Deschamps at the end of September 2022 to drink a small glass of champagne at the campsite opposite I was rather very complimentary of him and optimistic for the future. Like others at the time, I was wrong and I also didn't appreciate his nervous poop in June which certainly cost us feathers. But for me Regis LB is not the idiot that many describe here today and I wish him success.'

How many of these left field appointments have been of someone who has just got relegated after finishing the season in worse form than the temporary Head Coach he's taking over from who is universally seen as a joke at the club?

I don't think anyone is actually wanting him to fail. I'm sure all SAFC fans want to see him be successful. I think people just can't believe after the saga that has ensured, we've ended up with someone with a poor record who is managed by KLD's agent mate.
