Regis le Bris - confirmed

If he leads us to our highest ever top flight finish as he did with Lorient I’ll be happy to be fair.

And if he does it on with the lowest budget in the league I’ll be ever happier.
he hasnt led the to their highest ever top flight finish. joint 3rd highest finish.
But i still hope he has something about him to improve us

Well I don’t get the whole Will Still thing. Surely there would have been a Gentlemen’s agreement months ago if he was coming. Have they had 3 names they were happy with then all fell through? I’m reluctant to criticise because I don’t know what goes on behind the scenes and as we haven’t really lost out much by waiting this long. The centre forward situation is another matter.
Well if you are only going to criticise when you know everything that’s going on you probably aren’t going to be critical very often.
I’m not sure how they could have made it much more obvious they didn’t have a succession plan than what they did, short of issuing a press release admitting it.

Good God there are a lot of idiots on here!!! OK, he was relegated last season, but try to have the brains to look beyond the surface.

Before the 23/24 season, the most talented players were sold and with a boardroom in turmoil, there was little budget to buy decent replacements. Even with those setbacks, he was only relegated by the narrowest of narrow margins. In the previous season he managed to get the club to 10th with a young and unfancied side. This was by far their best finish and far higher than anyone expected. On the strength of that season he was in line for one of the top jobs in French football but compensation was a problem. Before all this help enjoyed great success managing younger sides and has a good record of youth development. The chances are that had it not been for the relegation, he would be a Head Coach out of our reach.

OK, I'm not saying he would have been my first, second, or even third choice, but the point is that this appointment is a bit more nuanced than it appears at first sight. I think he's a gamble, but possibly a calculated gamble. It would also have been easier and safer to stick to the usual Championship merry-go-round, but instead KLD has chosen to be a bit more ambitious. Fans also complained that the model needed to be more flexible to allow a new Head Coach to bring in his own people, and now we're learning that's exactly what's happening.

I realise this is a gamble, but I like the fact they're going for it rather than playing safe. I like the fact that they're adjusting the model to learn the lessons from last season. Our new Head Coach deserves a fair chance and he will get my full support.

What I mean was that I was correct in my dismissing the rule for Keane and McCarthy, very very wrong with Moyes, who I thought would be very successful with Sunderland, however since when new managers/head coaches have been appointed I have decided not to ignore that rule of 15 games.
Ah got ya now.

I think 15 is a decent enough sample size. Both positively and negatively. There was loads on here wanted Dodds permanently after 2 wins yet the rest of the season showed a better reflection of his abilities.

Welcome Reginald. What’s the craic with Dodds n Proctor? If they are hanging around it’s a pointless appointment again
Hence why it's taken so long . He was about to be sacked at lorient so had nothing to lose taking this on on his own .
That's why loads fell by the wayside as they had to come on their own

Having read that, one thing I'm optimistic about is quicker attacking transitions - one of the real frustrations as last season went on.
unfortunately most articles on his tactics and style of play is based on his first 3 months where he won 8 of 12 and only lost 1. I wish there was more articles about longer term as well for a more detailed understanding of how he works and what maybe went wrong/different for the next 12 to 18 months

What great success has he had with youth teams and youth development?

10th is a really good achievement, the worry is it was based almost entirely on an unbelievable start after those first ten games his record is really poor. Probably varying degrees of mitigation but it was poor and getting worse.

So you think he’s a gamble but you call anyone who’s underwhelmed or concerned an “idiot”.

I’m behind him, he’s got my full support but what a patronising post. Sorry
