Regis le Bris - confirmed

If it walks like a duck, swims like a duck, and quacks like a duck, it’s a duck.

Sometimes you can just look at an appointment and think this looks really shit. No need to over hypothesise.

Hopefully it isn’t, but I think he’ll be gone by Christmas.
So is he cack or a duck? I am confused.

But the point is that he has to be much better. Only time will tell on that one, but the omens aren't wonderful.

The other point is that supporter base morale is down after the last 6 months and we needed a boost to that morale with a good appointment to start off the season in the right way. This appointment isn't going to do that. I fear that team morale is the same, and unless this feller can come in strong and impose himself, his ideas and his philosophy and make it work, then we are in for a long hard season.
They went after candidates that would've inspired the fans. Still or Maric or Jansen would've given that morale boost but they turned us down for one reason or another.

The appointment of Le Bris as a bit of an unknown quantity may not inspire but it avoids the backlash that would've followed had we appointed Challinor, Robinson or Dodds.

If we get off to a good start and with fair winds we could be there or thereabouts.
Lose a few on the bounce and it could get pretty nasty very quickly.

Gotta hope the players can buy into his philosophy and that they take to him.

Unhappy fans is one thing but if there's discontent in the dressing room we could lose a decent chunk of our promising youngsters.

None of us know what's coming so we have to give Le Bris and by default KLD and Speakman the benefit of the doubt.

He's an underwhelming appointment but then again some of the others linked were too and deserves a chance like them all. Just got to see how he does now though and get behind him. It's the hierarchy as opposed to him that's caused this mess and anger from the supporters. Hopefully we've unearthed a gem and he'll prove us wrong as Mowbray did.

I also think the squad needs real focus and various upgrades - that's the priority to me as opposed to the head coach as regardless of how well they do, we'll be looking for another one in 12-18 months time.

Let’s be honest the fans knew the square root of fuck all about any of them either

It's worth pointing out that Lorient had the 10th highest wage bill in Ligue 1 last season and were the 11th highest spenders in the league.

Yes, they sold two players for big fees and two others for very modest fees, but this narrative that it is being portrayed that he pulled off a miracle in season one and that relegated was inevitable in season two because they sold everyone and spent nothing to replace them is a load of rubbish.
You're right, but suspect you're pushing against the tide with reasonable arguments like that marra.

We are not a laughing stock. Most people don't give a toss about us and if they do it's because a lot of our supporters think we are a bigger club than we are.
Been no mass hysteriya in the media and the sad fact is that unless your'e City, Liverpool, United and maybe one or two others the press don't give a toss.

Proper ray of sunshine aren’t you

Why? Because I'm actually doing some research as opposed to lapping up the nonsense narrative that a side who had the 10th highest wage bill and 11th highest transfer spend in Ligue 1 were doomed to be relegated?

If the consensus is to be believed:

- Le Bris pulled off a miracle in finishing 10th in 22/23 with Lorient despite them actually having the 8th highest transfer spend.

- Le Bris had an impossible job on his hands and relegation was almost inevitable in 23/24 despite having them actually having the 11th highest transfer spend in the league.

Makes sense.

I'm not for or against the appointment either way before anyone starts, but people are choosing to see what they want to see.

That’s the point. They lost their best players by far. Then didn’t replace efficiently. The wage will be seriously boosted by Benjamin Mendy and Bakayoko. Two egos who caused problems in the dressing room. Didn’t replace their top scorer or best midfielder, two key positions

You're assuming on dressing room issues, and replacing players etc and don't have any evidence of that if you're honest
Someone told me this morning that he doesn’t speak any English???
He'll not have been able to understand Dan Neil or Patto anyway so a smile will do :D

Their win percentages are almost identical Le Bris is only slightly ahead despite fact Beales was for one of the big two in SPL so should be miles better than the 29% he has.

However I wasn't really meaning stats, I disliked Beale as a manager because of how he spoke in interviews, threw players under the bus, repeated excuses and played some of worst football i've seen recently etc so for me I'd rather have anyone else in within reason than him.

Mate that’s some outrageous changing of stats to change your agenda

Beale has a better CV just no disputing that
