It’s an interesting one, that’s for sure. I’ve never heard of the lad (I also hadn’t of Jansen or Maric) so no preconceptions here. I’m preparing myself to be pleasantly surprised and if not, at least we’ve tried something differentSo let's step back and look at the bigger picture.
His ppm at the development side level was 1.51. that probably for the side he was managing makes him a very similar candidate to Jansen, Maric and a couple of the others that we were supposed to be in for.
He has achieved in a league at a higher level than our own, and against some really decent sides.
Even in relegation, there would be lessons learned that other candidates will have not learned, like Lampard, and never underestimate that, but by definition he's probably no worse than Heck, who did not succeed in a top flight, and has performed at a higher level than Rosenior.
His record in France isn't massively different to Still, and he is the second coming.
The proof in the pudding is how we ultimately perform. I remember when Wenger first came to Arsenal, there was uproar at his record and where he came from. And yet he revolutionised that club.
I think it's fair to say some of the players may well fit his style of play, like Ba, and possibly O'Nein, but if a mixing up.of the coaching structure includes a fitness coach and a free kick specialist, let's judge as we see.
Really, he has as much chance at succeeding as any other candidate, but if given support then let's just hope for the best.
Good managers can get relegated, for sure. But what positive evidence is there of this new head coach?Arsene Wenger got relegated earlier in his career at Nancy. Maybe everyone should have avoided him afterwards???
You can always find positives. We did the same when we appointed Howard Wilkinson. You can butter it up all you like, it's yet another uninspiring appointment. So let's step back and look at the bigger picture.

He showed he can't play as the lone strikerI wouldn't personally, no. Didn't show anything.
All appointments areSo its a gamble then?
That’s it for me too. It’s different. I feel like the ceiling will be higher but also won’t be shocked if he’s gone by October. It’s an interesting one, that’s for sure. Nah. He changed system for that game. Not a typical Dodds game.See Leeds at home
The players also hadn’t had the life sucked out of them by BealeNah. He changed system for that game. Not a typical Dodds game.
Played 5 at the back. A familiar method throughout I thoughtNah. He changed system for that game. Not a typical Dodds game.

Putting the relegation to one side. This manager has shown very limited positive evidence. His first season was alright, fell away after a blistering start.I wouldn't personally, no. Didn't show anything.
I agree, one of the worst loan signings in recent years, christ knows why AC Milan wanted to sign him last summer. He showed he might not have much of a future at top level professional football.
Do some research on him. You will see he was actually doing well, 2nd in Ligue 1, beating PSG 3-1 then having his best players sold including his top scorer. Is it any surprise it turned to shit?Good managers can get relegated, for sure. But what positive evidence is there of this new head coach?
Beale has managed one of the Old Firm where their win percentage is 90 by default. He has a worse win record than Beale![]()
Yes we did a few times at the end of the season. I mean he changed it up for that game.Played 5 at the back. A familiar method throughout I thought
It's not even about the positives tbf. It's more about not prejudging. Heck or Rosenior would have been uninspiring. This is more of a risk. More concerning, but potentially more exciting. We'll see.You can always find positives. We did the same when we appointed Howard Wilkinson. You can butter it up all you like, it's yet another uninspiring appointment.
Burstow? You sure it wasn’t a job at C&A in Milan?I agree, one of the worst loan signings in recent years, christ knows why AC Milan wanted to sign him last summer.
Didn’t realise he’d been applying and not getting gigs for 20 yearPutting the relegation to one side. This manager has shown very limited positive evidence. His first season was alright, fell away after a blistering start.
His inability to make the break through to land a head coach role till his mid/late 40s is a cause for concern.
