Regis le Bris - confirmed

Ideal man for the job.

Got relegated as second bottom of the league, goal difference of minus 23 and lost 5 of his last 6 games.

Thank goodness for Speakman’s fantastic world leading database, we’ve ( possibly ) got a world beater in the wings.

It’s baffling that they found him.

Fuckin hell just realised he relegated his team with a 30% win ratio.

I can’t wait for the gaslighting to begin about how he was always on their radar and some of the best coaching they’ve ever seen
Not only was this not Lorient's highest ever finish as claimed earlier, it was their lowest points total in ligue 1 in the last 35 years. Lower than when they were previously relegated by 7 points although I think ligue 1 was 20 teams at one point.

Does this represent ‘progression’ from Mowbray’s tenure?

Simple ‘yes’ or ‘no’
Not as easy as yes or No!

I’d say it a neutral for me. Sounds like a good coach and I’m not too bothered about his record last season. The manager / coach is important but not nearly as important as our recruitment and sales this summer

What does the data point to here? The 30% win ratio, the relegation last season, or the fact he’ll be a total yes man and do what the ownership says.

Sick and tired of them all now. Genuinely wish they’d sell up and all fuck off
Wouldnt surprise me if it was the same shortlist they drew up last summer when they were looking at farioli et al. He had a good reputation this time last year

Yeah but again I'd put that down to manager, you've kind of proven my point. We dropped 10 places as a result of replacing mowbray with dumb and dumber and "writing off the season". No chance would we have finished as low as we did had mowbray lasted the season.
Again it’s context, which lots of people seem to refuse to take into account.

I think there’s a chance Mowbray could have turned it around, like he did during a couple of blips in his first season. However, he may not have and we were going in one direction under him at the end……again, largely because he didn’t have the players he needed and that’s by his own account.

I think losing your best players and not replacing them is a massive factor in many teams having their form go off a cliff.

2 years of managerial experience..
30% win ratio in that 2 years...

This is sunderland AFC not Chesterfield! We deserve better than this 💩
Its a trick man,its really Billy Smith from Shildon but Speakman thought we wouldnt like a UK based coach.Ya cannot kid me,I bet the scarf picture has Billy with a string of onions round his neck,a black tam, hooped jersey accompanied by loud accordion music.

HIs record aside, the thing that concerns me is that Speakman etc are supposed to be identifying a style of play and building a squad and coaching team to match it. We've gone from neil, who was quite structured and direct, to mowbray, who took the shackles off them a bit and kept his wingers wide, to beale who played a narrow shape either a diamond or a xmas tree, to le bris who's been playing 3 at the back. Wheres the consistency there. Just gives me even less confidence in the exec group.
