Reckon we are in for some season

Played some decent stuff and worked hard but object of game is to put ball on back of net and I don’t recall their keeper making a save.

Ozturk is fat as a fuck I said that when saw photo of him modelling away strip.

Maguire looks a handful mind. Movement was very good.
 
We should have a good season but calling a 0-2 defeat at home a good performance to a team that made a load of changes is bizzare. FFS muffin man himself could have been in goal for Wednesday and the score would have been the same. Posts like this man :lol:

McGuire is a right handful and is going to cause some real damage when he has strikers to provide for. Some questioned his performances and desire last season but he is proving that his form at Oxford was not a fluke

We have a crop of youngsters who are easily able to compete at this level....Some cracking footballers who are able to fit into Ross's high energy style of play and all will benefit from games like this......Many are currently squad players but they proved tonight that they are more than adequate.

Best have seen Cattermole for a long long time (still not worth the wage and hope that tonight will prompt interest)

We played cracking, high pressure football with at times sublime interpassing and arguably our best players are not in the team yet.

If this was a show of the way the players are adapting to Jacks style of play then I suspect there are some teams in league one going to be in for a tonking this season. Gonna put it out there that with a target man/striker partnership in there tonight we would have won that game at a canter.

Downside Osturk but not going to judge too quickly, has the attributes and physical presence to make a great centre back, will undoubtedly improve as the weeks go by and lets be honest he is not going to be playing while the first choice lads are fit.

All in all, another good night, starting to really see what Jack is trying to do and why his St Mirren side were seen as being so impressive.

Agree with everything you say other than Ozturk. He looks terrible, I didn't see him commanding anything, he's dreadfully slow, his defensive headers don't clear the danger or make things worse and he looks like he's likely to make a mistake at any second. Reminds me of the great Steve Hetzke :cry:

However, was impressed with our overall play and we actually look like we play to some sort of system for the first time since Big Sam left.

I thought we played well, passed it around nicely. It was a daft mistake by Ozturk and a lack of threat up front that cost us. We live and learn, but it’s still encouraging, and it was nice to see every player wanting the ball and not shying away from it.

We’ll move on to better things I’m sure, under Ross’ tenureship.
 
Agree with a lot of the sentiments in OP, played some cracking stuff at times. However how you think Ozturk has attributes to be a great defender is bizarre :lol: not gonna write him off after 2 games by any means but theres not a single moment I have thought that he has looked decent yet.

Which is the point, its two games and his record over a full season at Hearts was excellent and drew major plaudits....Not sure he has just turned to shit over night, more likely is that he is taking time to adjust to new club/league/country. Of course maybe he has just forgotten how to play football
 
Ozturk - so far in 180 minutes we’ve seen:
Lacks pace
Poor passing
Extremely poor decision making (last nights goal)
Not great in the air

He’s a knacker but he’s only backup

Honestly don't know what you were watching mate. Have you ever played football at any sort of level? ... Saying Ozturk has all the atttibutes & physicals to make a great centre back ffs! He always looks off balance when he passes the ball. His reading of the game is poor & he looks 2 stone overweight. If you played like that in the Northern league you'd be hooked off.

Ok... We didn’t outplay all game them and were lacking up front massively. Defence needs a lot of work too. But OP is right; at times we were superb with our movement and that bodes very well for the season and Ross as manager. It’s where the goal came from at the weekend. Your response to the OP is ridiculously negative IMO. Waddle, McCarthy and Goodman commentating all praised our play. They played football at a canny level ...

Wednesdays midfield, just before half time began passing around him. One run by Bannen towards our goal before the break ,Cattermole was out paced by Bannen which is when he started to get frustrated.. His heart might be willing (he did have in the main a decent game up to being subbed) but the body is shot.
 
Turn heavy possession spells into chances, and we’ll start putting teams away. Until this happens, I’m not getting carried away.

Some people need to look at how awful Jaap Stam was in his first season at Manchester Utd and what a tremendous Centre Back he was after that. Admittedly Ozturk is no Stam but with more confidence and better decision making he should easily cope at this level.

You think we didnt create chances? How many shots on goal? How many great positions that needed a final ball and a proper striker? Did you even watch the game mate?



No need to answer mate, his record speaks for itself.....The bloke was skipper of hearts, was a fans favourite, made Scottish Premier league player of the season.....Did all this happen cause he made mistakes like tonight? Do you honestly have that opinion or are you simply jumping the gun and judging somebody who you have seen for about an hour or so?

Yes and you sound like one of them. A blind man on a galloping horse can see he is too slow and ponderous in thought as well as movement. Football is all about opinions but you can't ignore the evidence in the pitch

Agreed, but based on what we have seen so far I don't see how we can say he has all the attributes to be a great centre half. Hopefully he does turn out decent and I wouldn't be surprised at all if he has just had a slow start, but theres no debate he has looked awful in his 180 mins for us so far.
