Reckon we are in for some season

We started with no recognised striker and played that way for 60+ minutes.

Our approach play, pace, desire and interpassing was at times superb and we played Wednesday off the park for long periods......At one point in the second half we had 85% possession.

Hugely impressed with a number of players

Keeper, gonna put this out there that if we had had a keeper of this quality last season we would still be in the Championship, that is how badly we were managed.

Power looks superb, strolled through this game and did everything right.

Baldwin looks a class act.

McGuire is a right handful and is going to cause some real damage when he has strikers to provide for. Some questioned his performances and desire last season but he is proving that his form at Oxford was not a fluke

We have a crop of youngsters who are easily able to compete at this level....Some cracking footballers who are able to fit into Ross's high energy style of play and all will benefit from games like this......Many are currently squad players but they proved tonight that they are more than adequate.

Best have seen Cattermole for a long long time (still not worth the wage and hope that tonight will prompt interest)

We played cracking, high pressure football with at times sublime interpassing and arguably our best players are not in the team yet.

If this was a show of the way the players are adapting to Jacks style of play then I suspect there are some teams in league one going to be in for a tonking this season. Gonna put it out there that with a target man/striker partnership in there tonight we would have won that game at a canter.

Downside Osturk but not going to judge too quickly, has the attributes and physical presence to make a great centre back, will undoubtedly improve as the weeks go by and lets be honest he is not going to be playing while the first choice lads are fit.

All in all, another good night, starting to really see what Jack is trying to do and why his St Mirren side were seen as being so impressive.

Roll on Sunday.

Agree on the whole but I thought cattermole was poor.

We didn't outplay them. They literally let us have the ball. We didn't even test their goalkeeper all game.

They knew that if we came forward a space would open up behind Cattermole & Power so if Fletcher won the first header they'd have runners coming into them areas.

Honestly don't know what you were watching mate. Have you ever played football at any sort of level? ... Saying Ozturk has all the atttibutes & physicals to make a great centre back ffs! He always looks off balance when he passes the ball. His reading of the game is poor & he looks 2 stone overweight. If you played like that in the Northern league you'd be hooked off.

Are you joking? How many times first half did we get in behind them only to be let down by poor final ball or finish? They didnt let us have the ball at all, we were running rings round them, christ even the commentators were saying it.

We dont get people in the box mind

We had no strikers, stick Wyke or Sinclair in there when fit its a very very different game. Job done tonight imho, played well, gave lots of squad players a run out and they showed they are capable of doing a job. We rested both our major goal threats, tells you just where JR's priorities currently are and I think he is spot on.

Imagine that style of play with

Wyke, McGeady, Watmore, McGeouch, Sinclair fit.....Somebody will be in for a hammering sooner rather than later.

Agreed. Without a striker we tried manfully but they were superior to us in front of goal; we on the other hand, looked bereft. Ozturk was disappointing.

Played at a reasonable level yes and again I will not be judging Ozturk on a couple of games....Like I said, Kirchoff was written off by many after 20 minutes at Spurs, call me old fashioned if you like but Im not sure you can judge a player on a couple of games when he arrives at a new club. Lets see how he is doing by xmas.

They did let us have the ball. Asked us to break them down and they didn't have an answer to it. We pressed well throughout the game but once we got the ball it was way too slow in the final third & the quality of cross wasn't there.

Please clarify your comments on Ozturk anarl mate. Honestly got me baffled

Agreed re them being superior infront of goal but that was it and not a suprise when you rest your two main strikers......We were playing a championship side who has made the play offs twice recently and we were more than a match for them despite having our best players missing.

I agree but i reckon Flanagan and Loovers will be in front of him in the pecking, or even picking order.

So you can see that he looks off balance when he gets the ball? Not acceptable for a professional footballer. His decision making is appalling anarl, just steps out and commits himself then doesn't win the ball. Tries to get infront of his man when he can't gives away fouls too.

He has no attributes to suggest he'd make a 'great' centre back

First half we murdered them. Playing between the lines, movement was outstanding. Took them ages to get to grips with our pass and move.
