Really minor annoyances

I turn the volume all the way down because I find the onscreen flashing mute icon a minor annoyance. :oops:

The phrase "getting a bite to eat", it's just daft.

Wait a few minutes and ask again. It goes up to 19, repeat this interaction until I can just about hear it but really have to concentrate, say FFS, grab the remote and turn it up to 32. Then I hear "I'm not sure what is going on, I couldn't really hear the start of that".

If only there was a f***ing button that could cure that problem. I might invent one and win a Nobel f****ing prize.

Sounds like 10 is the factory setting that it reverts to when it is switched off. You should be able to adjust the start up volume somewhere in sound settings, or accessibility settings. Depends on the make and model where the setting will be. Google will be your friend on this one I would think.
 
Signing up for essential services ( eg utilities ) and having your data passed on resulting in spam/junk e-mail, phone calls from touts.

It sticks to the same volume as you turned it off on. If it is just me having used the telly then it remains at the normal watching volume. But one of the others in the house turns it down (not always to 10) before turning it off.
 
A weekend trip for the football, back to Mam and Dad’s was always enlivened by the expectation that the evening’s telly viewing would be interspersed with frantic shouts of “MUTE! MUTE!” whenever an ad break started.

They had a remote each. And they were both hard of hearing so the normal tv volume was pretty high. Then the adverts were deafening.

It was hilarious for a while … then annoying.

Now just a pleasant memory.

Shelling eggs, a pain in the arse and I'm crap at it.

I fancied eggs and tomato sandwiches for my dinner, I have some fresh eggs from a friends chickens and loads of tomatoes I need to pick at dinner time, so I boiled up some eggs this morning. When other people shell them, you have this nice smooth white egg left and it takes them a minute. I was picking away for ages and ended up with 3 battered asteroids. Feel like I chucked away half the egg with the shell.
 
When the pull tab on the milk stays welded to the carton cap so you have that task of getting the foil cover off without bending a fingernail off or having it in six pieces by the time your finished. Yes, Tesco, this means you.

De-shell them under running water and it comes away smooth.
 
Starting to be a major annoyance but people (kids) putting empty packets and cartons back. Just been in the fridge to get the milk and it's empty so I can't have my cereal. Yesterday I spotted a nice packet of elite biscuits in the cupboard so knocked up a cup of tea only to find it was just the packet being held together by one poxy biscuit in the end.

I was literally just about to type this as made a cup of tea two mins ago and the biscuit packet was there. But no biscuits.

Completely hatstand! My Mrs cannot for the life of her, peel a hard boiled egg! How? Why? Boil the egg, cool it, tap it, shell comes off...
 
Bloody level crossing down the road. I'm sure i have sensors on me car which brings the barriers down when I'm within 20 metres of it. They come down far too early aswell sat there 4 mins this morning which felt like a lifetime before one 2 carriage train went flying past. Could have had 100 cars gone through in that time

The level crossing at Blaydon next to Morrisons is terrible for being down far too long. The next one along near my work is much better.
 
The adverts for those sketcher slip-on shoes. First, and least annoyingly, of all, they look shite in real life.

But the annoying bit of the adverts isn't that they are being advertised by fit and healthy former-athlete etc celebrities who appear, in response to the the offer of a few hundred thousand quid, to be trying to convince me that they have as much difficulty as I have - which still isn't all that much - in bending down to put a pair of shoes on.

No. The annoying bit is where they are selling the shoes, partly on the basis, that their design means there's 'no need to touch your shoes'

Since when has it been some sort of disgusting cultural taboo to 'touch you shoes' and who buys footwear on the basis that you will never had to touch them?

We get through a lot of eggs in our gaff.
I’m about fifty fifty in success rate with de-shelling eggs cleanly.
Even asked on the wise SMB once and the advice I got was that as soon as you take the pan off the boil douse them in cold running water. Somehow that seems to separate that inner membrane that is key for doing a clean de-shell!
