Realistic target for next season

When you consider we’ve took 4 points off leeds and 3 off burnley thats 39 other points took off established sides. Impressive.

If we can smash the 3 newcomers a bit theres no reason why we shouldnt be sitting 7th/8th next year with a chance of europe.
You're forgetting the 3 off Wolves 4 off Spurs and 3 off Forest and 6 off the Mags, 4 off Palace. All currently below us. That's more than half of our points at 27. And a number of them 4, have been playing in many more games in Europe.

Was class when we hit 40 points and the weirdos who creep around on here desperate for us to lose suddenly switched to ‘aye but NEXT season…’

Top half finish, a proper go at the cup and a couple of derby wins would be lovely. Main thing for me is to enjoy having some exciting new players who buy into the club and push us on.

With all the talk of Europe and second season syndrome which is a myth by the way I was wanting to know what people’s genuine thoughts are on next season. I don’t mean what we want as we all as fans want everything, but more a realistic look at it. For me I think another season of stability with the outside chance of either the Europa or Conference would be great but realistically thinking I would accept another mid table season if that’s where we end up this term. I do think especially looking at the team Man City had out yesterday and teams in general with the FA cup we should target that competition. Oh and finish above the mags
I'm an optimist by nature, and a pessimist by experience - I think 45 points will be harder to get next season, but it's more than possible. Would snap your hands off for another season without relegation worries. Become as established as Fuham, etc.

1st target will have to be 40 points again. If that gets achieved early then look at where we are. I'd also love a cup run, except if we somehow do get into Europe this season, in which case I'm fine to toss the domestics off.

Avoid relegation would be my aim again, get to 40 points as quickly as possible.

I don’t think we’ll start as well next season. Obviously we don’t know the fixtures yet, but a lot of “moments” went our way in the early part of this season. We’ll have to improve in the summer, or we might struggle a bit.

Given how last summer went none of us have any idea how much we will have to spend.

My gut is we are now pretty much a sell to buy club, barring the odd youngun or cheap veteran.

But one can dream...Amad on the right would be a fantastic signing and would get the feel good factor going. A DM as back up to Xhaka and a quality CF, couple of loans in defence and i think we can aim for top 10.

Mid table is a non entity pathetic target. We should be aiming for Europa, which from what the owners said at the start of the season "our aim isn't just survival" that was the target this season which we look likely to miss.

As a person with a winner mentality who is never satisfied and always wants more, you need to give the players something clear and tangible to battle for, you can't just tell them to battle for mid table.

This idea that you can build steadily season upon season is not reality in the premier league. Big clubs can come in and take your best players and manager and you are back to square one. You need to take your chance while you can.

The conference league is bullshat, we do not want to be in that. It's very little money and little prestige, but loads more games that can ruin your league position.
