World Class
GD McGrath - 124 Tests, 563 wickets @ 21.64
CEL Ambrose - 98 Tests, 405 wickets @ 20.99
AA Donald - 72 Tests, 330 wickets @ 22.25
DW Steyn - 65 Tests, 332 wickets @ 22.65

Very Good
JM Anderson - 81 Tests, 305 wickets @ 30.14

Anderson's average is decent but nowhere near a reflection on the bowler he is now. In short, the first half of his career he wasn't good enough and didnt develop at all due to fitness issues and people making poor judgements on trying to change his action. Going into the last tour of NZ 4 or so years ago he had an average touching 36 and since then an average around 25.

Also it comes down to definition of world class the above bowlers are amongst the best of all time. I dont think you have to be in that category to be considered world class. Anderson is the most skilful bowler in world cricket at the moment IMO - he is world class on that basis IMO.

You always have to consider the bowlers alongside and the quality of opposition batsmen.

I think thats more a fact.

Agree with this too. If there is a top bowler at one end creating pressure and doing damage then the guy with the ball at the other end has a better chance of getting results.

Last Sunday being a fine example.
