Rafael Benítez

He, and quote from the bloke who just served me in Whitley Bay Sainsbury's (I had me SAFC tie on as it was my first day back to since Wednesday), is 'arguably the greatest manager we have ever had'. Not just a good manager or one of the best, arguably the greatest.... You know, one who is sitting above all of their other greats!!!

Apparently he's a World class manager.

We need a Championship forum for these threads ;)

Mike Ashley, yesterday.

"But Ashley has said he is willing to rip up his club’s current model and give him what he wants, knowing he is the Toon’s best chance of winning promotion next season.

Benitez would keep his £5million-a-year salary in the Championship - making him by far the division's highest paid boss

They are turbo-fucked. The new Glasgow Rangers.

Shit anyway.

I think he'll get you back up no problem but the way your lot are fawning over him is weird to be honest.

He couldn't get more than a point from games against us, norwich and villa. Set up in the crucial game against the worst team in the league, by far, like all he wanted was a draw. A couple of solid draws against below par liverpool and man city teams who were playing in Europe days later and a big win against a spurs side shot to bits when it couldn't have mattered less and he's being hailed as some sort of all conquering savior.

It can only be because the fans are desperate for a big name in charge to keep the club relevant as you play the likes of Burton and Rotherham.

He's a very good manager and a very good person too. This is something we've not had for years and years - competent AND likeable?

If it happens it's the best decision the club has made for a decade. May all turn to shit, who knows, but he's the absolute best we could possibly do right now.

that's mental tbf

arsenal should get him in. negative football but have them challenging all season for the league and not just up until november.

Fact.

I'm not disputing any of that, apart from the fact i've never foud him likeable.

He is definitely the best you could do right now......it doesn't make the god-like adulation any less ridiculous.

All borne out of desperation. Battered by Sunderland again so need this to hold onto.

Compare and contrast: Carver, McClaren, Pardew, Kinnear........Benitez. It's hope, not much granted but it's a shite sight better than what's been in charge for years. If he signs then the place will be buzzing for the right reasons for a change.

And as Luke Edwards says he has fallen in love . What more could you ask for...

Do you buy that stuff though? I don't think it works that way any more. If he gets offered the Spain job, or the Valencia job he will be off.......he probably won't get offered them though because his star is on the wane much like Newcastle's. In that sense they're made for each other.
