There's an increasing number of fans, including myself, who are disenchanted with Rafa atm. Bizarre tactics, and the vast majority of his buys have been garbage. He'll always have my support over Ashley, but he's certainly not the be all and end all.
Just out of interest, if you were Ashley, would you have given Benitez another £50m to spend this summer knowing :
1. He’ll probably walk when his contract expires, and
2. He’d probably have wasted the money buying the likes of Rondon and Kenedy as opposed to getting them on loan.

Personally, I wouldn’t be surprised if Ashley is hanging on to the cash so the next manager has something to deal with.

so if there is no motivation to stay coz fat mike won't blank chequebook him and he cant walk... where is the motivation to anything but get the sack??

is it not conceivable that he's missing out elsewhere and has to get the sack sooner rather than later? the mags deify him but in reality if hes cheesed off ... he could have to engineer his own sacking

You wonder at the minute if he’s trying to do exactly that, except why would Ashley pay to sack him when his contract runs out at the end of the season anyway.
They look like they are stuck with each other until May, unless another team want him and are willing to pay his clause.
It’s a bit of a viscous circle that I don’t think will end very well at all

thought he might have another 2 years to go ... if he bails in may... itll kick off
if he gets sacked itll kick off

and were a club close to going bust due to spending way over what you lot could afford. I didn't see many banners or demo's when Ashley bailed your lot out...
Maybe he did bail us out financially. No one knows the truth on the finance situation.

how legal is this... its essentially indentured servitude.

if janey is correct he's stuck in a loveless marriage until his contract up otherwise fat mike creams in the spanish lotto
the way things are playing at the minute there are two ways this is going. 1. Ashley wait until the end of the season ,meets Rafa to negotiate new contract/transfer budget and no deal is agreed. Rafa leaves without paying Ashley owt, Ashleys says publicly he has offered him the earth but he chose to leave.. win, win. 2. Rafa is pushed into a sustained losing run, the Mags finally cotton on that he is not the saviour they thought he was (Press and Media have finally realised this week) and make his life a misery and he goes,I suspect after Christmas when any Compo he as to pay Ashley would be negligible in real terms. Win win for Ashley again. There is not a cat in hell's chance Rafa will be the gaffa next season at the scum.

Alternatively, the Mags are now beginning to question his choices of team selection and the stats ( that are there for all to see) it can only go one way.

Good reply and food for thought. I personally would approve of giving him that amount of money given his track record of signings here. Rondon is a bit of an unknown atm, Kenedy is as bad this season as he was good last.
As for Ashley keeping his money for the next man, I won't hold my breath.

Its the classic old argument, Ashley probably thinks fuck it we don't need to spend we finished 10th. Why should he spunk £100 million to probably finish a couple of places higher and maybe get an extra £ 4 million prize money.

Makes no financial sense

Your former owners bled the club dry.

You should be building a statue of him for saving the club.

Oh right. Build a statue of a bloke who has dragged our club into the gutter on many occasion?

IMO the bloke is vermin. I wouldn't piss on him if he was on fire.

Ashley was proved right mind in the January transfer window of 2015/2016, I think their promotion season.. Rafa wanted to spend a fortune on two players to guarantee promotion irc and Ashley said no and the scum were promoted as expected...He was proved right on that occasion in not spending.

Has he called NE women dogs ? Or Shearer Mary Poppins ? When did he drag you into the gutter ?

I wish Ashley gave him plenty of money to spend, because he skint absolute fortunes on some shite when he was at Liverpool.

I take it this is a typo and you actually meant wouldn’t, based on your previous comment?

Read a few of your posts on this thread, it's a refreshing change to have a mag on here that can engage in an actual debate and trying to give as neutral a view as possible when talking about NUFC. Instead of the usual WUMs.

Mediocre? Before he came we had some great sides, playing regularly in the Champions league, finishing in the top 5 quite often. We've been relegated six times in our history, twice under Ashley.
Trophies count not finishing 5th.
49 years and counting
