Keys is right.
As too often with Benitez, he elects to court the media and curry favour with the fans rather than do his core job of coaching the team. Does he really, really think this type of interview will change the amount of money available?
He is a good coach, and payed a vast salary to coach a team to safety. He might like to be coaching a team to better things, maybe a shot at the Champion's League, but that is not the case and those teams involved in that type of chase would not appear to be desirous of his services.
Financially , there will still be a bit of a hangover from the relegation which he was unable to prevent and a wage bill much higher than the one he inherited.
He is a good coach and a bad politician. Concentrating on the former has gained him his reputation. Compusively (it seems) engaging in the latter has got him the sack on several occasions.
IMO that lot are more or less doing things the right way. In a world when Danny Ings might apparently be worth £24m, resisting wild spending does not look uneccessarily frugal.
