Funnily enough we were just discussing this the other day.
IF - and it's still a big IF that we will both be in the Champo next season - the mags will have to slash their squad big time in addition to those who would want to go.
Benitez would be gone, FMA would still be there (hopefully), and depression and despondency would rule whereas we would be on the up.
Who exactly in the mags squad do you 'fear' ? Overall, it is not very high on quality is it ?
Shelvey, Lascelles, Perez and Ritchie would be away for sure.
Would we really not be able to put out a team to compete with Yedlin, Dummett, Manquilo, Fernandez, Clark, Hayden (wants away now never mind next season), Lejeune, Diame(out of contract June19 and probably would leave for one last decent contract), Ki, Murphy, Joselu and Muto ?

After their last 2 relegations it’s hard to think they won’t just bounce back. It would all depend on their transfer budget I suppose, which could be anything. There is a chance they would find it more difficult next season. As it stands though, they’ve still got enough in their squad to finish at least 4th bottom.

In our case, we would be almost building a first team from scratch, even though a few we have now would be good squad players. You would like to think we would be competitive but Jack Ross would have an even harder job next year if he manages to get us promoted. Even to finish in the top 10 we would need big investment. I would trust this manager’s judgement over most to be fair to him so you never know what we might achieve.
