Was sam doing GUILTY of taking bungs?
Sam WON a damages case against Kean who called him a crook.
His greed got better of him with England job but still don't think it warranted the sack. Can't have too much sympathy for him though.
Jobs he's done at Bolton, Blackburn, West Ham, Sunderland and Crystal Palace have all been relatively successful. Even the mags were mid table which wasn't exactly disastrous before they ridiculously sacked him.
His prowess as a manager to one side,; let's not pretend the whole of football doesn't know he's, shall we say, 'not quite above board'?

Benitez is a top manager doing a really good job with the players he has no argument there. Its exactly what I would also expect Big Sam to do as he done with average squads of players all his life. I can't see how anyone can dispute that really.

Benitez seems a good bloke and Sam a bit of a dodgy character but again I don't see the relevance of that either.

We like that hes a good manager first and foremost, the big name just couples with that very obvious fact.

Its weird the way you go on though. You have players throwing themselves on the line for you, giving 100% and in the first half you could only ever hear are pro rafa chants. It is definitely unusual like.

He's a very pragmatic manager he will go long with the ball wait for his counter attacks. He will just sit back wait for the counter and set pieces.

Wasnt that the way allardyce had the mags set up, yet the mags didn't take to him for that style of football.

Now why was that, football fans are very fickle
One is foreign so is class

Don't talk so f***ing stupid he sets his teams up like Benitez hard to beat looking for the counter attack looking for weaknesses looking for set pieces it's not that different.
Allardyce has never had the opportunity at the big clubs with the massive budgets I'm sure if he had that lucky break he would have won a few trophies

You lot do make yourselves look silly at times with your blind love affair with Benitez
Allardyce didn't really make us hard to beat. Southampton away, he looked like he was trying to get us beaten, or at least not wanting us to win!
A very shady bloke. I wouldn't be surprised if something else comes up in the future regarding his time in football.

We did similar during the good times under Keane and for a period under O'Neill too.

He's called Big Sam?
Probably one of the most utterly pointless and irrelevant replies ever posted on here, well done.

Because Rafa Benitez is able to set up teams to play in a variety of different styles and formations, aims to control the ball on the deck, rather than play direct percentage football and has been successful at a far higher level

Nowt wrong with the way the waiter sets his team up. He's always done it and it's effective. He manages the details really well.

Awful to watch but so what? It's true that Big Sam was similarly pragmatic, but then again he wasn't seen as a Messiah.

The waiter could do anything there and it would be okay.
Wasnt awful when Liverpool smashed Fergie's Man Utd!

At the very least will come out in later years biographies....

Exactly mate, alot complain about us but of course these threads will attract us.

Good luck with the rest of the season and I mean that, can't put up with me mackem workmates being so down man. Normally we'd give & take but the situation as it is, its too much and everyone has limits.

Problem is, I honestly cannot see Newcastle hanging on to Benitez. The Liverpool board must surely be thinking he would be a good candidate to replace Klopp if things keep deteriorating

I agree, if the Liverpool job comes up it'd be between him & Ancelotti as things stand.

Call me deluded, whatever. But I honestly think the reason he's stayed so far is the resemblance between the two clubs.

Aye I know the £5million plus a year helps too, before its said :D

Bit Fat Mike won't stump up the sort of money to crack the top.

Or maybe he will, there is not reason Newcastle cannot get back into the top six with adequate spending, but I cannot see it happening.

He won't, even though he could easily.

The nda/takeover talk is promising even if we've seen it a number of times before. I hate MA for what its worth but he has us on a sound financial footing, despite the recent relegations.

Call me deluded but I really hope I see my team challenging for major honours during my lifetime, the only way possible is someone takes over & invests heavily. Everything is there bar the playing staff, I'm sure you wish the same for you're club, as its the same (although I'd think you'd need a new manager)

Id rather they made all the big money men feck off - make all clubs fan owned or something. The game is in tatters

I do agree, money has ruined the game. But the more clubs get invested into (other than the 'big six') the better chance we all have of surviving, the last thing football needs is a European league where the rich get richer as we'd all be in even worser shit when the sky money drops significantly.
