Not sure i would agree with the gaffer there to be honest.

Spurs - yes with luck we could have.
Cardiff - Should have but too negative for too long.
Chelsea - No as it is not possible to win a football match when you do not have possession of the actual football at any point.
City - Just no.

We will still win the FA Cup though so all is still rosy in Barcelona on Tyne.

FAO mag lurkers

The thing is... by the time we come back up you'll still have won nowt. Not played in the Champions League or Europa league and either have been relegated or still fighting relegation.

Yes we're in league one. But ask yourselves who the happier set of fans will have been until we meet each other in the league again... it wont be yous

We tried to say this when we were winning games in the Championship a few years back and it was met with derision and ‘the premier league is the be all and end all/only
thing that matters’ iirc.

You'ze weren't happy though. Never are. Last time you were was 1992.

He is good at closing up shop, but they love him as he could in their heads win them the Euro Cup or at least get them back to the Champs League. As we can see with Mourinho - regressive defensive football is on the back foot vs attacking counter attack/possession football. Most managers are good for 10/15 years then they recede and Benitez is blatantly one of them.

I'd like to know how many fans in the Championship NUFC would have had if they had kept McLaren for that season. Spirits would have been down negativity through the roof. They got 52k that season as they had hope. The total opposite to us when we went down. Ive lost the plot here but never mind

The first attendance they got in 09/10 (post-relegation) was 37,000. A brilliant crowd for a Championship game on telly as I recall, but a far cry from 50,000+.

I think with the hairweave in charge they would have been looking at similar gates as above.

If i remember rightly there were a few mags happy in May 2018, finishing tenth and watching you get relegated ...again.
Not me mind, i was gutted.

and who do you now think was right?

Us? Being in the Premier League isn’t the be all and end all. Winning games is key, that doesn’t mean I want us relegated to gamble on that actually happening as I think if we are relegated this season or next (latter more likely) it will be different to the last time.

Do you think being in the Premier League is the be all and end all?

I think you'd always bounce straight back. Biggest pull and financially sound.

For me, its got to the point, having watched us struggle for the best part of ten years, it's just about leaving the ground having seen a win. And I've always liked the so called shitter grounds, so that's a bonus.

It’s a welcome relief but you wouldn’t want to be down there for more than a few years as that number of wins and the good feeling that comes with it will soon dwindle.

I think I'd be happy being top six in the championship for the foreseeable, if you lot were in it, Boro, Leeds, the two Sheffields, Villa etc.

I know what you are saying but after a while that would seem like permanent failure. However, if (and obviously it is a huge if) at some stage in the future we ever made it back to the Premiership my heart would sink at the thought of going back to a lot of those godawful Premiership grounds. I have well and truly had enough of that. We need to get out of League 1 straight away but I'd be happy having a few years in the Championship.

Play offs for a few seasons with the traditional big clubs of yesteryear would be topper. And aye, most of the top flight grounds are boring.

They only got over 50,000 once. But history has been rewritten.
