No doubt Benitez spends money, but you're bonkers if you think he's not good enough without a big budget to deliver Sunderland's aims this season. Look at his career man, he's not won all that simply by buying players.

And a bigger picture view means you have to consider where the club started from, and then the other teams and their expenditure and where they started from, it means you have to look at how much the market has changed in a couple of seasons.

A few windows ago Sigurdsson would go for about £15m, now they're talking about £50m. Nathan Ake went for £20m. Andre Gray went for £18m(I think?)So, that being the case, would £100m gross spend over 3 windows really guarantee a top 10 finish? Even if Burnley spent £100m over 3 seasons they couldn't guarantee a top 10 finish man.

There is nothing anywhere to back up your claim that Rafa is good enough without a big budget.

In 3 months time we'll see that he isn't.

And Sissoko went for £35m and Wijnaldum £25m or your net spend would have been bigger. Net spend means jack shit £100m in a year (regardless of how much you raised through sales) should have you top 10 if Rafa is this world class manager everyone goes on about.

50pts? 46 points was good enough for 8th and 40pts was only good enough for 17th. If Benitez gets this squad to 50pts he would deserve the manager of the year award. We're a Championship squad with a couple of lower Premier League players dotted here and there. We're still playing Dummett at left back ffs :lol:

If I was talking to football fans about football I'd expect a certain degree of "banter", but once the initial back and forth subsided I'd expect to have a decent conversation about football with a mature amount of objectivity. I totally understand the enmity, but people are dismissing an excellent football manager's entire career simply because of the team he currently manages. People are stating they'd rather have Simon Grayson, than one of the most trophied managers in the game today. :lol: That's not banter, that's bizarre.

It's like when we had Cabaye and Tiote at their peak, and this place was full of people saying "Nah, Catts fer me like". :lol
