Rafa. He's still not happy

Without getting into a long, boring and extremely tedious debate with you, you say "currently amongst the pantheon of big clubs". Are you suggesting you have been previously or could be in the future?

Saying we could be in the future. Mostly because who the fuck knows what could happen. I remember when Chelsea weren't among the very biggest clubs on the planet, but Abramovic changed the landscape. Man City leapt from yoyo club to the top table too. Spurs haven't been a truly elite club in years, but should they continue to challenge for the title, there's no reason why they couldn't muscle their way in. Hell, we're seeing Barcelona losing one of their top stars to PSG who didn't f***ing exist 47 years ago and who only really began to assert themselves as a force when the Qatari money poured in 5 or 6 years ago.

I don't think we'll be a truly massive club in my lifetime, but never say never.

I'd bet my house that it never happens.

Geography alone dictates that the players needed to get you up among the big clubs would stop it.

You lot are so delusional at the best of times

Yes, but Newcastle aren't currently amongst the pantheon of the truly "big clubs". I'd say managing Barcelona, Real Madrid, Man Utd and so on is a bigger achievement.

I'd say, quite confidently, they never have been.

A club that's not won a current major trophy in half their 125 year existence doesn't have any claim to be classed alongside the clubs you mention.

One league title in almost 100 years make it impossible to argue that tbh.

A few cups since the 1920's doesn't even make Newcastle better than some of the clubs currently in the Championship.

Just caught up with some Twitter shit. Looks like he's running a media campaign and airing his dirty washing in public.
Can't see Mike responding well to that. His negative comments are what Moyes was slammed for. And it worked out so well for him and us

... that was my point Reiver. Any club could be should the right combination of money, ambition and players roll along. Newcastle could, Sunderland could, f***ing MK Dons could ffs.

Fuck me you lot are bizarre at times, a perfectly harmless comment and you'll fall over each other to try and make out I was being a DELEWDED JAWDEE.

You just cant say it can you, Benitez is far better than Sunlun could ever muster yet yous talk of the bloke as if he's terrible.ok then
:lol::lol:
What, ever ever?
I don't know, one day far into the future we may just be lucky enough to find ourselves in a position hovering just above the relegation zone with an expensively assembled squad and circumstances meaning that a manager of Benitez's ilk, wanting a route back to the country and league but with no other credible offers can be attracted by a disproportionate salary to take us down.

So you were talking about events that may happen at some point in the future, perhaps beyond your lifetime ...... yes, of course ;) ;) ;) ;)

Benitez's lowest position after a full season in charge in 7th, his highest is 2nd. Benitez' highest points total is 86. Sam Allardyce's highest league finish is 6th. His highest points total is 56.
Allardyce has a W/D/L ratio in the Premier League of 165/130/192 33% wins 39% losses
Benitez has a W/D/L ratio in the Premier League of 144/65/55 55% wins 21% losses

Benitez has won promotions, leagues and cups across Europes. Allardyce has won promotion 4 times, twice via the play offs.

Liverpool
Chelsea
Real Madrid
Valencia
Inter

Vs

Bolton
Blackburn
West Ham
Newcastle

Not hard to see why Benitez has a better win % than Allardyce.

The kind of people, with that amount of available cash, aren't attracted to a 'party town' in the far NE of England tbh.

That's why Newcastle's owners have recently been boorish self important wide boys like Ashley, Hall & Shepherd.

Russian Oligarchs & Arab Sheikhs wouldn't want to be bringing their family, guests and business contacts to Tha Toon.

Don't you think there's a reason why those clubs gave Benitez the job and not Sam Allardyce? If "Big Sam" was a manager that could perform at the upper reaches of the league he would have been offered a job there. Big clubs have given opportunities to Moyes, Rodgers, Hughes, and so on, so it's not a closed shop, is it?

The owners and directors of those clubs would surely have given him a shot if they thought he was up to it, but he's shown his limit is about midtable. Which is no mean feat, but not good enough for them.

They can't be told that though. My msg mates genuinely think that "Rafa" could attract top players to challenge for the title in 2/3 years if Ashley backed him.

A quote from a mate who is a Everton fan.

"I used to quite like Newcastle as a kid in the 90s. Then I moved up here to go to uni and had to listen to the fuckwits go on about how massive the club was, when they've done fuck all for 50 years"
