Start building now. Incoming transfers moving slowly.
No major outgoing. Come end of the window a late bid for a key player that the club deem too good to turn down, say somebody Shelvey, Ritchie, Gayle. Not that I think many clubs want our players, but this board love derailing any momentum.
This summer to me is reminiscent of 2008 under Keegan when there was a feel good factor, fans liked the manager a lot, and the board didn't sign the players he wanted, then sold Milner against the managers wishes at the last minute.

The board don't seem to like managers who the fans are happy with. Keegan, Shearer (although I personally didn't want him), Hughton and now Benitez. Yet they gave us Joe Kinnear, Pardew, Carver and McClaren. And stuck with them all for too long.
They seem to love annoying the fans.
Won't be long before something big happens.

of course, if you read some of my posts i'm not his biggest fan , i for one think he's a step up on who we have had but he's not like a Shaun Dyche or a similar type manager who can build a team from nothing.That can be levelled at many "world class" managers, give them a Burnley( no disrespect) and see what they are made of.

Benitez has a system that isn't great to watch at times, often makes weird subs, keeps giving workhorses like Gouffran a place in the team when clearly he is crap.

The jury is out for me but undoubtedly he is a likeable football man who has cheered us up, if he get's us to mid table on the "Burnley type" budget this pre season then i think he deserves respect and credit for that but the absolute minimum is to stay in the league, maybe he should be given the chance to build it at his pace.

who knows, he's a great presence for us when at the time we had some rubbish options, our stock is tainted and we aren't the draw we were a few years ago so Benitez is here and we turn another page with or without him.
 
Be very surprised if he walked. Doesn't have a track record of it, even at clubs where he's been at war with the board (most of them) he generally fights them publicly but won't leave of his own accord.

Would love it if he did because, for all I think their squad is poor (by PL standards) he's got enough about him to keep them up over a whole season in my opinion. I think the type if manager they'd replace him with would struggle big time to keep them up.

Do you hear voices m8? You are slightly mad aren't you? Mid table, ur having a laugh aren't you, you'll struggle and if he goes you'll be lucky to finish 20th!

Bobby Robson wasn't at the club under Ashley.
The early days of his ownership when he was in the away end with fans, buying pints for everybody etc, he actually seemed to care about the opinion of the fans and sacked Allardyce(Shepherd appointment) and appointed Keegan. Although Chris Mort was chairman/CEO then and seemed good at PR, he was only ever there for a year.

again if you read my posts my own opinion we will struggle and probably finish 4th bottom......i said "if" by the way, would you give him credit if he managed that?
