It's so disappointing. I heard Rafiq's testimony the other day and thought we might have a figure to bring us out of the dark ages and help us to bring unity. It's sulleyed the whole thing for me.

Is a figurehead needed even ? The wheels are well and truly rolling on change which is the main thing surely ?

To me Rafiq's posts are on par with Ollie Robinson. Stupid racist comments from kids who have stupid opinions. Neither are a symptom of systematic racism in cricket. If Rafiq's aim was to bring down individuals who had wronged him he'd no longer have a leg to stand on. But he's demanding change to end systematic racism within cricket. His posts from 10 years ago haven't altered my view on the situation

As long as the likes of YCC and MCC are held to account I’m not fussed who the figurehead ( if one is even needed) is

Absolutely spot on. Robinson got a one game suspension whilst they investigated it. And the world moved on.

this is very different to what has gone on at Yorkshire.

That's exactly how I see it as well. I'm sure our new posters were all swarming to defend him back then as well, but don't seem to be doing so in Rafiq's case.

even if more comes out it doesn’t diminish the problems English Cricket or the likes of Yorkshire have.
Whatever, if owt comes out it doesn’t cancel out the acknowledged and accepted problems in the game.

Basically Rafiq he has done his bit in bringing the racism to the worlds attention. The MCC are being held to account, YCCC are under new ownership who must make changes and loads of other players are coming forward making change necessary. It’s embarrassing for Rafiq as an individual but in some ways his work is done.

Totally agree he has given cricket the chance to make huge changes that should not be derailed.

The joy of people commenting on social media about this is just sad and shows how people have been desperate for an excuse to discredit everything Rafiq has been saying.

Whoever found it has played a blinder because people will stop paying attention now.

I wasn't aware Rafiq was banned back in 2010 for calling an official a "wanker" on social media

He has a fair few run ins with officials and iirc was sent home from a tour for bad behaviour/being pissed and getting thrown out of a hotel. Except that formed part of the complaint, that he was virtually innocent and due to the racism that existed, he was punished very harshly.
