He started out as a general science communicator covering all sorts of topics.
As part of his introduction to astronomy series of lectures he did a short video debunking the whole flat earth theory.
To his amazement, seemingly the whole of the flat earth fraternity then descended onto his website to try to take him apart.
So, 'because they were very rude', he responded with a full length debunking video that has now topped 11m views.
Almost overnight he went from a relatively niche science educator to a youtube phenomenon with in excess of 2m subscribers.
