Protest At The Man United Game

How do you know it was a coincidence? I'm not saying the protests = villa sold, but it seems entirely plausible to me they were a catalyst given Lerner rapidly dropped his price to see the deal through.

I'm sure if I dug around for a couple of hours in the archives of the Birmingham Mail I could come up with a complete history. I think at the time of the protests he hadn't even visited Brum for over a year; unless someone at the club tipped him off I wouldn't be surprised if he was unaware they'd happened. I think you're way too optimistic in concluding any kind of causal link. My experience of corporate deals is that from enquiry through due diligence to contract and purchase is 4-6 months. some of the bigger deals my wife worked on went on for over a year.

"And if any of you dare to sit there and whinge about your fellow fans protesting, take a look at yourself and ask who you are and whose side you're on. Do you let people walk over you? Do you like watching bairns cry on the terraces or, worse, NOT GIVE A FLYING FUCK ABOUT GOING TO GAMES BECAUSE WE LET THE MAGIC DIE?"
 f***ing hell man.

1) I am absolutely sure Lerner knew about the protests. I mean, they may not have influenced his sale or whatever, but no one will ever convince me he was completely unaware of them. He will have known.

2) I wasn't concluding a causal link - look at what I said again - The poster made the claim that at Villa they had protested and still had the same owner. I was pointing out that this was untrue as after the protests the club was quickly sold. I don't know if the protests had an effect. In some clubs I'm sure protests have an effect, in others Im sure they don't. I have no idea if they did in Villa's case or if it was just coincidence as you say. What I am saying categorically though is it's just untrue to say that Villa fans protested and they now have the same owner - they don't.

3) I wasn't saying the 2 years was impossible - just asking for a source. My understanding is that some deals go through fast e.g. Murray to Drummaville and some can take an age. Depends on various factors, again, I don't know what the case was with Villa.

Excited for the accounts coming out by the way? I'm hoping for some 8 hour shifts on here from you!

But you continue to mention them on thread after thread as if they did ........

You just did

"You're putting words in his mouth there like. I don't think he's saying that."
"I don't care really. Sitting doing nowt won't amount to anything either. It never does." At what point does he say the protests are 'pretty pointless' like? I can say he didn't say that. You did though.

Look back at the thread. The other poster mentioned Villa first, and said they had protested but still had the same owner. I pointed out that's not true. I'm right. You'd argue with me if I said the sky was blue man.

"You're right though, it won't force shorts hand or have much effect."

You were implying Villa was sold because of the protests ...... you have no idea as you've now admitted.

One of the reasons I won't be protesting against Short is that he's hoyed an obscene amount of his own money into my club and I've agreed with pretty much every managerial appointment he's made. If I turned on him now it would make me a massive hypocrite hiding behind hindsight.

The fella is trying to sell narl so what's the point?
