I'm pissed off with what has happened to the club in recent years but I'm still unsure what a protest is meant to achieve. Short out? He wants to go anyway. Will a protest speed that up? Probably not, he likely wouldn't be there to hear it so it's hardly going to unsettle him. Will he suddenly lower his asking price by tens of millions just because some fans have some banners and chants about him? Hardly likely. If anything it'll just make him less careful about who he sells to which could be a disaster for us.

Is it about Moyes? He's hardly done a good job but will people really join a protest about him when it's obvious that he's just a small part of a much bigger problem? If he goes do we really think things will improve dramatically?

Is it both of them out? We're all pissed off, but I don't see agreement on what and who to protest against, other than the fact that "we're shit". For a successful protest you'd need a clear target, a clear (and preferably achievable) desired outcome and you'd need to get a lot of people to agree. Shit though this situation is I just don't see this in these suggested protests
 
I think the fans of Charlton,Blackpool,Coventry,Villa,Blackburn,Newcastle,Leeds have all had protests about their owners. They're all still there. Many Arsenal fans want Wenger out he's still there.
I won't be doing anything in regards to protests and hopefully Short leaves.

If you don't know what you're talking about then it's best not to comment. Villa were sold shortly after protests for example.

Why don't you come back with a credible alternative to Ellis Short, and maybe then I might join you. As it stands, it is only him that stands between the club and administration so would rather keep the man onside.

Yeah. It's the first attempt and it's taking a while to actually reach all the fans interested. My guess is the first effort won't be that many people, but the further our club falls apart the more and more people who will get onboard. It's all about baby steps - we won't go from apathy to full on protest overnight.

No, they're fair points. I know many are pissed off at Moyes but even before he came the warning signs were there. Allardyce sounded pissed off about a lack of backing before leaving and no manager had managed to progress us, relegation is hardly a shock. Some will place a lot of the blame on Moyes but again that's the problem, some will, some will blame short, some want both gone, some will blame the players. With the Bob Murray protests I think people were more agreed that a major problem we had was that he simply couldn't put the funds in. If people can't agree about what to protest about it's destined not to get very far (and probably just lead to fans squaring up to each other!).

On the second point I don't think doing nowt will help, but neither do I think protesting will help. What will help is the people at the club naming better decisions, and maybe Short fling, but he'll only do that when he gets an offer he finds acceptable, he won't go just because of fan pressure.

I'm not saying don't protest, people have every right to be pissed off and if they want to protest then fair play to them, I just think they need to organise it well, much better than the random Facebook people on the original post

My view is that letting the club know the fury of the fans could be the rocket up their arse which makes them realise they need to act quick.

Genuine question - what would you suggest? You're one of the most sensible posters on here, and I think we all agree (?) that sitting back doing nothing isn't ideal. How can we send the message to the club that the fans won't stand by forever if they're intent on self destruction?

The sale, which took around 2 years, was negotiated and agreed well before the protests.
