Prospective England openers

I think they’ll stick with Crawley, rightly or wrongly.

Probably one of Lees or Sibley to open with him. Yates and Haines are the two to keep an eye on. Libby and Robson might have an outside chance if they score a bucket-full.

Just on my earlier point, The Times saying Key looking likely to be appointed DOF

I'd say everything off the table, he has a view on how it should be done, so maybe big changes ahead

Just on Key, i totally get why he isn't everyones cup of tea, but I am fully behind the appointment, I just think the whole set up needs a shakeup

and appointing someone like Giles or North, just because they have the right qualifications, is the wrong way to go

Maybe its worth a thread, as its pretty big news!

I’m not sure about Key I just haven’t got my head around it yet. Always had him as a bit too laidback and never cared too much for his commentary but he was a really astute captain. That said I definitely don’t want some stereotypical twat like Giles.

I struggle with Key. But I’m biased because I absolutely hate the annoying Hussain/Key banter bollocks, which is basically

“Rob Key is fat”
“Hussain has a big nose”

I think they’ve stopped it now. Or maybe I just don’t listen to that podcast anymore

If Key is in charge then Crawley is safe, had a big influence on him apparently

Mentioned it elsewhere, but the Essex lot rate Browne highly. His record over the last few years is actually better than Alastair Cooks - which should silence the ‘bring back Sir Alastair’ nonsense.
How can you call it nonsense when you look at the records of all of the batsmen who have tried to replace him?

He won't come back like.

Haway @rentaghost wheres the update?
Sir Akistair 58 after his 100 in the last fame
Crawley 54
Ben Compton started well unbeaten on 60 after a good start in the last game
Lyth 50 but I think his race has run

More to come I’m at B&Q 😂
Cook 3 second innings
Brown 1 second innings obviously seamers paradise tbf
Hameed 0 second innings to go with his 34 first knock
Haines 40 not out after his 41 first innings knock
Haines second innings 100
Compton carried his bat for 104 first innings
Crawley out for 5 second innings

Compton out for 27 just after lunch. None of the first innings openers really putting there hand up today. The likes of Sibley, Yates, Haines etc to bat in the second innings.
