The prestige of being in the top league is important, but in all honesty have we got the resources to compete. I'm not sure we have.

If we go up (and i dont think we will), we would be in a decent position with most of the big wage earners off the books.

Sorry if this offends people, but I have generally fovoured being in the lower league, it's much more fun with more feel good days, and life is too short to feel miserable almost constantly struggling in the top division

This. Why get promoted to then lose every week, not be able to sign or attract anyone. Viva la Championship. Least we all went into work today and were happy to talk about footy.

do we want it ?

;)
Going up before we were ready hurt us last time.

I suppose if we manage it, it depends if we do a Burnley and are prepared to have a go with the same squad, bank the cash, come back down and keep rebuilding from a much stronger position or do what we did last time, buy a whole new squad and step back on the merry go round of overinflated fees and wages and the desperation, financial instability and mercenaries that come with them.

Going up and staying with this squad would likely mean a sh8t year in the Prem getting pummeled, but would probably be worth it in the long run...

Unless you have a bottomless pit of cash this is the way to go, Burnley and West Brom before them both look settled in the Prem now.

Go for that idea. There's always 2 other promoted teams and 1 or 2 either in disarray or who have been hovering around the trap door for a while ready to be flushed eventually - we fell into both categories recent years and hardly struck fear into promoted sides.

Would it be better to be the yoyo club. Promotion to prem don't spend much, relegated then spend to build. If we did that our club would be in the black with a rebuild job coming along nicely until we have enough financial clout to compete in the astronomical transfer fee prem.? Plus we wouldn't be going ten years losing every other match. I'm enjoying the season so far.
