Probably been done on here before but…

Same boring tedious shite every time we win. I honestly couldn't give a shiny shit what we sing as it means we are winning games. For what it's worth, Blaydon was in County Durham just like Stockton was when Durham used to play games in Stockton and Hartlepool for example. People really need to get over this because it will continue to happen when we next win a game. It always bemuses me because we've sang this for years and people get outraged about it. Daft thing is I've never once heard anyone at the ground moan about it.... Says a lot that
Aye cos the 70 year old members are going to see a video on twitter 😆
Why are you bothered though. I hate football tribalism, it's pathetic. Durham CCC has got nothing to do with football.
Don't sing a song that synonymous with Newcastle then. People can say its not all they want but it is.

It's a North East folk song. It's got nothing to do with football. And personally, given I have virtually no interest in football I struggle to understand why anyone would want to bring football into the cricket forum.

If you asked anyone around the country what they thought the song was they would say its a NUFC song. Unfortunately they've hijacked it among many other north east things.

Football fans might. Anyone who knows anything about music or local history would know it's got fuck all to do with football.

I assume you think You'll never walk alone should only be sung by Liverpool supporters?

They can hear it loud and proud at the ground straight after we won like yesterday. People of all ages attend the games not just the "70 year old members". I sit with a mixture of folk who support different football teams at the cricket of different age ranges and not one of them has ever moaned about the song. Sunderland, Wolves, Carlisle, Newcastle, Gateshead, Hartlepool.... It seems it's non attending social media football fans who want to try and make an issue over this instead of praising the lads for what was a bloody good win yesterday and a very exciting day of cricket. Heaven forbid these people ever go into the home changing room and see the lyrics are on the wall of the changing room. People need to get over it, the lads have sang it for years, and will continue to sing it. Hopefully we win again next week and the social media football fans can have another meltdown about a song.

Ask anyone on the street and I can guarantee you the answer they’d give you.

And no as it’s sang by various clubs around the world.

Aye but around the country it’s now associated with them despite the origins.
Which origins? It’s about a race, of which at least 80% of which is run north of the Tyne, dropping into Durham for the finish.
It’s now synonymous with NUFC. Maybe wasn’t then is my point. Durham cricket should have their own song if they’re going to do this silly Ozzie shite.
It’s ALWAYS been synonymous with NUFC. No idea why Durham CC chose it but they’ve been singing it since they’ve been 1st class.

Hijacked 😂😂😂

NUFC sing the original lyrics. The likes of Man Utd sing about Matt Busby’s aces, which shows how long it’s been sung at football

It hasn’t always been synonymous with NUFC. The lyrics don’t mention NUFC. It wasnt wrote about NUFC.

If you had to say which song is synonymous with NUFC then the vast majority would say Blaydon Races. All other clubs versions, including Sunderland’s, changed the lyrics
