Probably been done on here before but…

This is posted every time Durham win and the team sing it. It’s frankly tedious.

Blaydon on Tyne, Co Durham, is in the county of Durham, always was and always will be. Singing this does not mean that they have suddenly become verminous mag bastards. Anyone who thinks they are might want to suggest this to the likes of, eg, Colly, Borthwick, Raine, Coughlin, Potts, Rushy to name but a few, and see what reaction they get.
They are singing a mag song . Nee need at all

Blaydon is "Durham"?, end of - just as Gateshead, Jarrow, South Shields and Sunderland all are. Let them sing it.
But if we want Durham CCC (or Sunderlanf AFC for that matter) to claim one exclusively let's go for THE LAMBTON WORM...cracking song. And very Wearside.

It might well be but anyone that doesn’t associate that song with mags is lying to themselves.

Late evening. Been a good weekend for Safc and Durham fans . Still hoping we can sneak into sixth

Of course it is associated with the Mags but we also sang it regularly through till the 80s.
As I say, if it upsets sensitive younger souls among our support, let's rev up another North East anthem that's very, very Wearside...the Worm!

Sadly doesn’t seem like Durham will budge. Sad.

I hear what you are saying but after the last couple of years results, they can sing it loud if we keep winning

like most things newcastle it’s nicked out of County Durham or Gateshead by them

Aye but around the country it’s now associated with them despite the origins.

I've swiftly adapted this from the original song lyrics. If it was belted out full blast, it could be very good (IMO of course!).

One Sunday morning Mowbray went
A-fishing' in the Wear;
And caught a Shearer on his hook,
He thought it very queer
But what kind of fish Shearer was
Mowbray could not tell.
It wasn't worth taking home
So he hoyed it doon a well.

Whisht! Lads, haad yor gobs,
Aa'll tell ye's aall an aaful story
Whisht! Lads, haad yor gobs,
Aa'll tell ye 'boot the worm.

(Then finish with "Sunderland, Sunderland " and repeat)

Not ower easy for a singalong apart from the refrain

It's not you daft knacker. The song has been around for a lot longer than the football club.

I really don't get why people try to get wound up about Durham CCC having any sort of association with Tyneside. Not least because before T&W, Jarra, Shields, Hebburn etc were all Co.Durham, but allegiance to football clubs is absolutely irrelevant when it comes to cricket iny opinion.

It definitely is a mag song now.

It may well of been before. In the here and now it’s a mag song and if you asked anyone around the country what the song was associated with they’d say NUFC.

Why are you bothered though. I hate football tribalism, it's pathetic. Durham CCC has got nothing to do with football.

Same boring tedious shite every time we win. I honestly couldn't give a shiny shit what we sing as it means we are winning games. For what it's worth, Blaydon was in County Durham just like Stockton was when Durham used to play games in Stockton and Hartlepool for example. People really need to get over this because it will continue to happen when we next win a game. It always bemuses me because we've sang this for years and people get outraged about it. Daft thing is I've never once heard anyone at the ground moan about it.... Says a lot that

I do find "Team Songs" absolutely shite mind. It's an Aussie thing isnt it? And posting it all over social media every single time (Lancs do it as well with that stupid darts song followed by Lan Ca Shire along with a stupid wavey arm dance) is even worse

WTF I need to see this.
