That's what happens when you open the bowling with Will f***ing Smith. And Thorp proved today why he very rarely plays one-dayers, 3 overs for 38. Even Coetzer had to bowl two overs too

Went to this one, absolutely no atmosphere, particularly after Birmingham were relegated later on. Was surreal tbh, we gave every impression of lauding it over Warwicks and Stokes being a Bothamesque genius (not that his 150* wasn't supremely impressive).
What was telling though, was that the wicketkeeper had very very little to do in either innings. The pitch was obviously flat as anything, but even going into their innings you felt that 286 was plenty. To be honest, the amount of pies we bowled was appalling. I lost count of the amount of full tosses ready to be swatted to the boundary, our bowlers didn't make it hard for them at all. Callum's figures were particularly poor but Smith was also guilty, Claydon not much better.
Stokes though, imperious, absolutely imperious. I personally hope the ECB keep their hands off him for another year or so.
