*~*~* Preston v Sunderland match thread *~*~*

Another strange 45, Preston bar one shot have looked like a Sunday league team in front of goal, but they’ve had so many chances because we can’t win a second phase ball and very little in the air, we’re not keeping possession and as a result creating very little. Are we that poor against pressing teams, if so we will be found out. Let’s see what RLB does - it won’t take much of a swing to win this.

0-0 HT. Awful first half from us. Wide open in middle and getting run right though with ease every single time they come forward. We seem all over the place at the back when they press us and end up passing back to the keeper as we’ve no options going forward. Passing his been piss poor. Lost count how many times we’ve passed straight to them. Connolly, bar his chance near the end has been anonymous and zero threat. They can out their defenders up allowing their midfield to get into our box.

Any other day we could easily be 2 or 3 down. But we’re not. Change of shape, tactics and possibly a sub or two at HT. Isidor wasted out wide. Get him though the middle and occupy their back line. Still in it and if we can get sorted out at HT and play more like we can it’s there to be won.

Yeah the CM looks worryingly weak without Jobe, he was always gona be a miss with how he's played and his presence. But there's absolutely no bite there. Rigg chases everything but they are just playing right through us every time. Like watching us from the second half of last season.
I thought Browne would give us that steel in the but clearly not

Preston are onto us straight away, more physical than us, so we've rarely had the space. We've gone a bit too direct clearing our lines though. I've no problem with playing over the press but we've not been able to win the ball or get onto it often enough further up the pitch.

We've also let them in too easily too often. Preston have been quite aggressive going forward and there's times when they've gone straight down our left barely being challenged and a few times had their left winger had any composure we'd have suffered.

Need to improve in most areas second half if we want to come away with anything.
Thing is there are options there to change it

Worrying how much we miss a 19 year old kid in midfield 😐

Performances have slowly being going downhill ( Mainly down to teams seeing our weakness when pressed) but that's got to the worst of the lot this season. Couldn't even pass a ball.
Why is it worrying? He's a regular and been playing really well, what's his age got to do with it?

Those saying we look constantly poor bare in mind this ends a run of 4 away games in 5 matches played. Horses for courses... not many teams go away from home and blow teams away regularly. In fact we have the best away form in the entire division so that proves that. We are probably abit fatigued as fans watching us set up as the away team, keeping it tight etc - but thought it's worth noting we have had an obscene run of away games which compounds it.
