Premier League Pitch Rules?

I’ve just flicked on the Coventry vs Wrexham match and their pitch has a loveley tartan pattern trimmed into the turf, and it made me think that I don’t remember seeing a pitch with any pattern other than plane blocky stripe pattern for quite a while. It seemed to be the ‘in’ trend 10 years ago for the groundsman to show off his artistic flair, but I don’t think I’ve seen it for ages now.

Have I missed a rule change that banned it? Or have the groundsmen lost their creativity?

Which is why I asked it it’s a premier league specific rule, as it clearly isn’t a rule in the championship.

Premier League pitch patterns are strictly regulated to simple, horizontal lines cut across the width of the pitch, perpendicular to the touchline, creating a consistent look.
