Prem Update

Mate, I'm a Luton fan. Not sure how I can be accused of being patronising. We are a smallish club current punching well above our weight. I'll enjoy the ride but deep down know we will soon return to our natural level.

If I was a United, City, Arsenal fan posting this I would get your accusation.
Genuine question here…. Do you think you’ll beat Derbys lowest ever points score this season? Or is this something not in your fans minds? I think most accepted going up they were coming straight back down but just curious as to whether this even figures in the fan bases mind? Personally can see you guys getting 5 points at best this season

Look man do you think anyone give a fuck when we dropped down to league 1. No they didn't is the answer. So why would I give a monkeys toss about any other club struggling.

He's got likes cos he's said some pretty things about safc in his post
Like with Gareth Ainsworh people like him cause he sa6s nice things about us

yet tried to boot us off the park last week

some are easily pleased

Good question. Can't speak on behalf of the fanbase but for me it would be incredibly depressing to fall short of that total.

It's difficult to assess though at the moment. Going up through the play offs makes it far tougher to plan and bring in players. We've bought a lot of new players but at this stage no real idea how they will gel and perform at this level.

Next three games (Wolves, Everton and Burnley) will give us a clearer idea.

Good luck I hope you manage to stay up. Some right arsewipes on this board mind, ignore them.

I plan to watch your game today wiil give a verdict later 😁

I was asked on this board if I'd still post after we lost four/five games. So here goes;

The Prem League is light years above the Championship. Sounds obvious but the quality live is so different from watching on Sky. I'm a passionate Luton fan but also a passionate football fan.

Watching the likes of Mitoma, Bowen, Sterling etc has been strangely enjoyable. The huge difference though is the quality of defending. Prem League defenders are like 200m sprinters, built like brick shithouses with superb tactical nous.

The downside though is the complete lack of atmosphere. I sat in Brighton and Fulham end for our recent away games. It was full of tourists who spent more time on their phones than watching the game. Chelsea was the same apparently.

Still loving it though and looking forward to tomorrow.

Great start for yourselves as well. Seems you have added well to the squad and only lost one loan player. Your squad seems far stronger this season, which you need during the slog of March/April//May. Best of luck.

Finally, one lad on here is a Hertha fan. We went last weekend. What a stadium and what an atmosphere.
Out of the top 6 sides last year, if it wasn't to be us I'd have wanted Luton to go up. Even if you come straight back down, you'll have had the cash injection needed to sort your stadium out for the long term.
Good luck for the rest of the season, especially against the mags.

All of those games are winnable to be fair.

Honestly, have no problem with it. As an opposition fan posting on a board I fully expect it.

Anyway, majority of posters are extremely decent and very knowledgeable about football.

Without a doubt this board is the best in the league and in the main very welcoming to opposition fans.

As a Wolves fan I’m bricking it today.

For large periods so far we have looked as exciting as we have in a long time. But O’Neils in game management is shocking.

It was a strange appointment and if we don’t start picking up wins soon I can see him going and us ending the season with Rob Edwards in charge and us joining Luton in the Championship next season.

Our only hope is for O’Neil to start learning how to manage games quickly and we will climb the table as his style on the training ground is class apparently and really gets his points across well. Fuck knows what he tells the players at half time though.

I suppose there's quite a big difference between cementing your own ideas on a team and reacting to the ever changing conditions of a match in the heat of the moment. If he's got the former nailed down then you'd imagine he'll be able to work on and figure out the latter.

That’s pretty much how it is. He’s a nice guy so I hope he can work on the rest as we won’t be able to attract anyone much better after Lopetegui bad mouthed the club to the press during pre season.

Need to ride this season out as we’ve now sorted our FFP issues out and see what next season brings

Our ability in open play would give us a chance but with the exact same squad we’d probably get relegated because our set plays at either end are so bad.
PL teams aren’t missing the dozen or so clear chances Blackburn had during the week.
it'll grind you down
It’s their first time for a generation. They’ll be having a ball. We had ten years of fighting relegation……..that grinds people down.

I think Luton will shock a few at home like. Tight ground with that intense physical style of play, they'll pick up some wins.

It's pretty obvious the premier league is lightyears above the championship, look at how much Burnley, Sheff United and Luton are struggling this season, at least two of them are coming straight back down. As good as we have been this season we wouldn't stand a chance in the Premier league with this current squad.
