Prem Update

As a Wolves fan I’m bricking it today.

For large periods so far we have looked as exciting as we have in a long time. But O’Neils in game management is shocking.

It was a strange appointment and if we don’t start picking up wins soon I can see him going and us ending the season with Rob Edwards in charge and us joining Luton in the Championship next season.

Our only hope is for O’Neil to start learning how to manage games quickly and we will climb the table as his style on the training ground is class apparently and really gets his points across well. Fuck knows what he tells the players at half time though.

I think you’ll win. Luton are dogshit

My bro in law is a wolves fan and we are meeting him down cleethorpes today for family birthday drinks. He reckons if Wolves lose today the P.E. Teacher (O’Neil) needs the sack. He is totally underwhelmed by the appointment but still reckons they’ll beat luton though.

I don’t think Luton will break Derby’s record but they will definitely go down. However you never know in football.

I was asked on this board if I'd still post after we lost four/five games. So here goes;

The Prem League is light years above the Championship. Sounds obvious but the quality live is so different from watching on Sky. I'm a passionate Luton fan but also a passionate football fan.

Watching the likes of Mitoma, Bowen, Sterling etc has been strangely enjoyable. The huge difference though is the quality of defending. Prem League defenders are like 200m sprinters, built like brick shithouses with superb tactical nous.

The downside though is the complete lack of atmosphere. I sat in Brighton and Fulham end for our recent away games. It was full of tourists who spent more time on their phones than watching the game. Chelsea was the same apparently.

Still loving it though and looking forward to tomorrow.

Great start for yourselves as well. Seems you have added well to the squad and only lost one loan player. Your squad seems far stronger this season, which you need during the slog of March/April//May. Best of luck.

Finally, one lad on here is a Hertha fan. We went last weekend. What a stadium and what an atmosphere.

Horrible little club.
It's not light years above the championship, it's just your style of play is of a bygone era and doesn't belong there.
Ha.
Post of the week this!

Only difference is you score loads of goals with your bully boy tactics with VAR etc you can’t get away with it. Even though premier league Refs ain’t great they are Better then what the efl throws out.

Pros of being in the premier league - seeing the top players live and the money it generates, even if you do a Norwich/WBA/Burnley and yo-yo. I loved seeing Ronaldo, Henry, Zola, Hazard etc at the SOL.

Cons of being in the premier league - losing far more than winning, hoping for just a 2 goal defeat at Man City, the theatrics of some players, never being more than a bit part actor in a major west end production, celebrating winning the "17th place" trophy year on year. Seeing the money generated going on ludicrous wages to players who absolutely dont give a fuck about the club, the fans, the area, the history.

Good luck to Luton

They finished two consecutive seasons in the play offs, the second time finishing clear in 3rd

Yes, we “might” have beat them with Ballard/Batth at the back, but we didn’t.

Don’t mind them, they deserve their shot up there.

Although he doesn’t need to tell us it’s a better quality up there. We did near enough 400 consecutive games up there not to long ago.

Hope they get 6 points off the mags :D

Thanks, good balanced post. The point I was trying to make is how better defenders are now in the Prem, even from five or six years ago.

Messi said a couple of years ago that he is glad he's not starting his career now due to the quality of defending across all leagues.

I do also think the quality has gone up since you were last in the Prem making the gap between that and the Championship even bigger.

Best of luck tomorrow, I think it would be good for football for you to get back in the Prem.

I’m not sure the quality has gone up, Man City apart.

I think what Luton should have done is double down on your physical style of play but with better players who can play that system. You’re never going to be able to live with most of the teams there by playing nice football.

I do get what your saying but the premier league has always been hard

Defends are not massively better than last time (we were threre)
John Terry
Rio Ferdinand
vidic
Kompany
Evra
Cahill

Just a few who I would say in their peak are better than todays premier league defenders.

This. All their fans I’ve ever met have been sound and they fell into oblivion after being screwed over big time.

Glanced at the prem table for the first time this season today just to confirm my suspicions that Man City would be top and that Luton would be bottom and without a point on the board yet…

I doubt that will change by Xmas… not really a great league to follow when 5 games into the season likely acts as a perfect predictor of how it will end.

Is always your defence
Mate, I'm a Luton fan. Not sure how I can be accused of being patronising. We are a smallish club current punching well above our weight. I'll enjoy the ride but deep down know we will soon return to our natural level.

If I was a United, City, Arsenal fan posting this I would get your accusation.

Yet he is approaching 100 likes and you have precisely 0, funny that.
Look man do you think anyone give a fuck when we dropped down to league 1. No they didn't is the answer. So why would I give a monkeys toss about any other club struggling.

He's got likes cos he's said some pretty things about safc in his post
