The first game i took my daughter (5 at the time) to was the Stoke home game last year (Tommy Watson scored 2), and it was one of the coldest games i've ever been to. She spent the whole game shivering and we ended up leaving on about 60 minutes. She loves football now but i'm struggling to convince her to come to another game as she thinks it's always too cold
August or May match

Taking my eldest to his first game tonight. He's not massively into football in general but he's looking forward to it. Hoping it gets under his skin as ive always wanted to bring him.

Could be the start of a lifelong supporter. I hope

Haaaaaaaaway!!!!
I hope the bairn has a great night win or lose. Or draw!
My first game was Sept 24 1985 having been into the lads for the season before but me dad was too cynical to take me.
SAFC 3-2 Swindon
I fell in love head over heels and the club has given me some incredible highs and lows since!

My first game was what I thought was a 2-1 win over Leicester in 1995

Took me by complete surprise when I looked back 20 years later to find out we actually lost that game 2-1!

Shouldn't bother god with such trifling matters. Having said that, I hope you both have an enjoyable evening.

I hope we win for several reasons. Scabs etc, holding hands with the Mags, though, the main one being, when we were driving back from the playoff final defeat to Charlton, the Forest fans had placed a banner on a flyover saying "Charlton's going up with the Forest" the fucking backward twats.

When I got together with my missus both her lads were not really into footy so I thought I'd take them to a match and get them indoctrinated early. We should win this, I said to them on the way into the ground.

90 minutes later, Southampton 8, the lads 0 and two traumatised young lads asking questions like "is it always like this?" all the way home.

I hope that he enjoys it!

This reminds me of when our eldest kid started to take an interest in religion when she was about 12.

As a proud Catholic we took her to mass but the organ player was hopeless, the priest was a dullard, and we left midway through.

We tried a few different religions over the years but she’s now an atheist. I don’t feel guilty as a parent but I shoukd have taken her to mass when she was about 6 or 8 so that it became a habit (cue a nun joke lolz 🐧)

I think a good 3 defeat as a first sets you up better for the life ahead .
Maybe all the naysayers that appear in leaner times started with a great first match 🤔
