Not so, he lived for another 30 odd years. The story goes though that he wasn't entirely up to speed on the fact that Blazing Saddles was a spoof so he just gave the theme tune his usual welly. Which was exactly what it needed
Hmmmmm I'm mixing it up with another story then. Apologies. I was sure Mel Brooks said on the commentary that he died almost immediately afterwards.

The Good the Bad and the Ugly
Once Upon a time in America
Pulp Fiction
The Big Lebowski
Interstellar
Rebecca
The Outlaw Josey Wales
Annie Hall
Unforgiven
Alien

Might actually go through this thread and watch some of these, there's a few I either haven't seen, or haven't seen in ages.

I always miss loads out when I try and do a top ten. Not necessarily in terms of how good a film they are technically or owt, but if I could only ever watch ten films again I'd probably go:

Goodfellas
Natural Born Killers
True Romance
Scarface
Pulp Fiction
Terminator 2
The Shawshank Redemption
The Wolf of Wall Street
Casino
Die Hard

Then there's stuff like enemy of the state, the batman trilogy (that's one thing, I love box sets so I can set an evening aside and watch a few linked films in one go), predator, the godfather (1 and 2), schindlers list, north by northwest, loads that should be in the conversation for me

American gangster
Casino
Goodfellas
Man on fire
The equalizer
Wall street
Alien
A quiet place
Enemy of the state
Saving private Ryan

Treasure of sierra madre
Predator
Spotlight( shit topic, but brilliantly made)
Double indemnity
Mesrine
Unforgiven
Raider of the lost ark
Ladykillers
Darkest hour
Point blank
Well those are the favourites this week when I think about it

You could do a top 100 list and still miss loads of brilliant films out.
Looking through this thread and I’m seeing loads listed where I’m saying “Forgot about that one”

Subject to change but here’s ten I definitely love:

Grease
Nashville
Duck Soup
The Palm Beach Story
To Be Or Not To Be (1942)
Carlitos Way
Annie Hall
Dawn Of The Dead
42nd Street
Desk Set

War of the worlds is a good classic sci fi to add, started an obsession with War of the Worlds that has seen me watch a lot of thoroughly undeserving shite but I always give anything with that title a go!

Once Upon A Time In The West
Seven Samurai
The Good The Bad and The Ugly
Jaws
The Godfather Pt1
Apocalypse Now
The Treasures of the Sierra Madre

One of the few lists that hasn’t a clunker in it.

3 The Haunting
4 Predator
5 Tron
6 Kind Hearts And Coronets
7 Fright Night

I have a list of 20(ish) that changes order depending on my mood. The top 5 are locked, though.

Actually think I might binge my top ten and see if I still agree with it. I've got Scarface in there, loved it when I was younger, but tbh it's one of those films that I've watched so often that I now pretty much never bother with. Pretty sure it was on itv4 or similar a while ago and I saw some of it and felt it hadn't aged well, whereas I can still enjoy Goodfellas when it's on. Not sure if it would stay in my list as a top ten film of my lifetime, or come out because I likely wouldn't put it in a list of films I'd want to watch right now
