Imagine the mags were getting the fans in to do stadium repairs, we'd be having a field day.

I think things like letting the kids come in and help paint the concourse of the family enclosure etc would be a great idea, but replacing the seats by fans screams we're skint. Something which i don't actually think they are, but it's the feeling it would give.

whats wrong with the idea, getting the community involved with the club...fuck what the mags think..

also were not in the f***ing big time anymore at least for a few years..so shut up whining and get behind the new owners

always some fuckers on here pissing and moaning after the last 2 years of absoloute shit we have had to suffer im over the moon two FOOTBALL fans have took over our club

If done correctly, its a brilliant way of connecting the players, owners and fans. In addition, if its a nice day, lots of people will stay around the SOL for a few beers

Absolutely this. It's a win all around. With a PR guru at the helm we'd better get used to similar initiatives in the future as well; a refreshing change if you ask me. We must become seen as a place to invest but that begins on the pitch. This next managerial appointment is really important.
 
I think that another benefit of this idea is that all the old plastic seats could be burned in the middle of the pitch as the new ones are going in. It will save thousands on having to get someone to dispose of them.

It happens at most smaller clubs cause it has to, the irony here is that we have a massive fan base who would bloody love to get their hands dirty and help decor the stadium....Its the difference between and football club and a franchise (wonder where i nicked that soundbite). Have to say after listening to that Podcast will be buying a season ticket whether I can use it or not, damn those two likeable, realistic, football loving owners to hell ;)
 
For those of us who are exiles the possibility of an open day where you could just walk around the ground would be quite appealing by itself tbh, it may not be the same for those who go every week and are sick of the sight of it.

It can definitely be spun both ways, Newcastle fans would have a slight point to say 'why is the club not just paying for it' but then the club is clearly in a financial shitpot and so this sort of thing is a nice way of showing both the club and fans can come together and there are a decent amount who would be pretty proud of doing their little bit in the history of the stadium and making a section nice and shiny.
 
I didn't think the seats needed replacing, that would be an expensive job even with fans help, I thought they needed the colour restoring and the club was trialing a colour restorer. What happened to that?

I think they did it on a couple, looked good but I’m unsure of the long-term outcome.

Short replaced a big section of the east stand with brand new red seats that aren’t supposed to fade, this was during a stage where the club were spouting that the stadium was going to get freshened up. They did a section of the east stand then sacked it off.
