Phillipsy

Well evidently the sandies support is split but the mag section constantly abused Phillipsy cos he was our player, j mean when he was on the bench. So basically he had enough.
Sheelds team lose,mags win.
The times I did go to watch them the football was absolutely f***ing terrible.

There's probably loads of stories knocking about why he left, I was told he wanted more experienced players bringing as we had been promoted and the owner said NO.

He wanted a move away, along with McCann and Sorenson, in his last year after he put in a transfer request he did very little. I appreciate what he did for us, but he was a mercenary who left for money.
My remembrance is that the club expected relegation and didn't play him to protect a saleable asset. I don't remember him putting in a transfer request. Not saying he didn't, I just don't remember it. Hope I'm not thinking of a different player at a different time!

I was told It’s costing the owner 100k a year to keep the club running, so was told no money available and wanted SKP to take a pay cut.

4 brilliant seasons for us and two not so good. If he isn't a Sunderland great then very few players are. If we are ever fortunate enough to get a striker as good as him again then they will be gone after one season.

Just who did anything that last year? The club was rudderless from a football perspective. No one came out of it with any credit that’s for sure.

Reid is quoted as saying he put in a transfer request before the season started and rejected it, his performances went down after that.

I'm not denying he was a fantastic player for us, but once he got delusios of grandeur he wanted away.

When you have the spine of a team that want away it's evident. The same players were fantastic before.

Clubs with poor leadership get the players they deserve. The catalyst of this was Reid’s behaviour and the clubs lack of ambition to build the club. Players get disillusioned, they shouldn’t but they do.
In Reid’s hay day likes of SKP would have been in reserves with his pet lip
