Depressing if we've gone from Petrovic and Bulka to Johnstone.

It doesn’t really fit with everything that has come out so far from more reliable sources, the recruitment team have clearly identified goal keeper as an area we need to make a big improvement in, I can’t see us giving up this early in the transfer window.

The Black Cats have just brought in keeper coach Neil Cutler, as we revealed, and he is a huge fan of experienced Johnstone.

Cutler worked with Johnstone at Aston Villa and Wolves and would welcome a third chance at the Stadium of Light.

Sunderland have been looking for expensive keepers in Europe but may look at a relative bargain with Wolves.

The move may happen as a loan because Johnstone still has a couple of years on a contract at Wolves.

I'm not being funny like, but the thought of the owner, manager and recruitment team saying "sod a keeper like or Bulka or Petrovic - the goalkeeping coach is recommending a bloke he worked with who can't get a game for Wolves" is kinda nuts.

Absolutely, he'll live in isolation an air conditioned villa in a compound surrounded by servants hundreds of miles from the "city" and "supporters" he represents.

But as you say he can count his money so it's all good.
