Sunderland have been looking for expensive keepers in Europe but may look at a relative bargain with Wolves.

Johnstone would seem to be a bit of a step down from the likes of Petrovic and the Nice keeper.

Granted he’s got premier league experience for three different clubs but for all that he doesn’t seem like the sort of stand out signing the other two represented.

I’d guess he would be brought in as back up. Either to Patto as no.1 or if they expect to bring someone in and Patto to leave.

Id rather just have Patterson as our number 1. Wouldn’t mind Johnstone as a number 2 if Patterson leaves if we get a top end keeper
