People who don't care about England

Point missed completely...

Its because of my patriotism that I have turned my back in recent times...

I didnt care for the players in recent years, not my country. Their conduct, their skill (or lack of) and their blase expectation by default seriously pissed me off. To blindly follow twats does not bring success, nor make a man a patriot.

The "Untouchables"... They were not worthy of pulling the hallowed England shirt on. The excuses from this last generation of 'untouchables' were pathetic, blaming the fans for their lack of success. Rooney for example sneering into the camera at the fans with his comments. To play for our country is a privilege, it is done with pride. It comes with great responsibility.

During the last decade we have seen a shower of shit in England shirts who have been so mollycoddled by their clubs that they think they are god like JUST BECAUSE they have an England shirt! They didn't deserve my support. They were an embarrassment to my country - both off and on the pitch.

Ive got behind England this time - for the first time in around a decade. Simply because we have new blood in the squad. Players who have not yet been infected with Ego-itus.

My re-emergence will be complete when the final three 'untouchables' have gone from the squad. BEGONE you bastards, begone!

To play for England successfully you need to have pride in yourself and your country. Hopefully something this new batch will be taught from the outset.

COME ON ENGLAND!!!!
i like

Some are just embarrassed that the father's of football are well... general bad at their own sport now. Some give up hope they will ever be as good as other big footballing nation. England is the most club over country nation on earth.

Hoping the nipple bit wasn't aimed at me as I'm far from looking for an argument.
I'm trying to explain my own thoughts as small minded as they maybe.
Being born here made me English,my parents where born here, my grandparents where born here, however my great grandparents are Northern Irish, my bloodline is therefore not 100% English. Barely any bodies will be. I just feel people's passion for England has been dimmed by our multicultural state in general. This for me has spilled over to our national team.also the fact that players for England are ridiculously well off and don't seemingly give 2 fucks about any of us normal football fans
spot on

FFS>...........................................................................................what utter shite!

OK 'Nipple', since you seem to like abuse. Yes Im from the Durham area too, and yes people came to Durham from all over the British Isles when the coal was King. It was like the f***ing Klondike. Did you realise how many Scots, Welsh and Irish are descended from the Normans (descended from Vikings) therefore Germanic, the vikings first hand, ..............from Angles and Saxons? Where the fuck do you think people in this country come from, we're all from abroad originally, just look at the dna origins of british people............

Oi Davey, you started with the "dim" comment. If the cap fits, mate.....

You keep going on about bloodline as if that's what makes us English.

It's not and hasn't been for centuries. What makes us English is our culture, i.e. way of doing things.

To come full circle, if you really think that a bloodline from 1500 years ago determines what this nation is then in the words of the great Davey: "your dim".

Germanic tribes migrated everywhere, including France. 1500 years ago we may have had an influx of Germans, but in no way does this mean we're 'German' and not English. Englishness is a way of life; it's not connected with blood.

In a nutshell, you're not making a lot of sense.

Tell you a time when England was English? Christ, ask around the world and people will have a definite view of what constitutes being English and it's a distinct way of life that is easily recognisable.

even our language is germanic you speng

Tell me a time when England was English, when we were Celts before the Romans came, erm when we were Angles, Saxons and Jutes, when Sunderland and the North East were in the Danelaw? This hatred of foreigners makes me laugh, since NONE of us are truly native, anymore than the little packi family in your local shop!
Even the name England is derived from the German 'Angleland' ffs!
not entirely true is it

We have always had a very diverse culture, hence this conversation. I obviously dont share yours, nor would I want to!

Where's your sense of patriotism and pride? The history of England as a nation is immense, something to be proud of. Just because we don't win, play shit football or the manager doesn't pick the players you want, you say you lose interest? Still fuming over last nights results and seeing people on here not bothered is ridiculous tbh. Sunderland never win anything either but we still watch and support them every week no matter what!!!! What's the difference you miserable bastards?

To the people you don't care I have two words ... Fuck off

Im just not as bothered when england went out to a sunderland defeat, told people at work that dont really follow football but get pissed off when england went out, that its like that for me following the lads nearly every week !!

Patriotism is a variable feast. I love this country but that isn't the same as loving its institutions. If you get worked up about the England team then enjoy and endure it but you have no place telling me or anyone else what I should feel and telling folk to fuck off on account of not bothering too much about England is pathetic.

It wasn't, Hank.

I don't agree with the way you see it. The fact that we have people in this country of different 'colour' does not dilute England at all. Tolerance is an English value and a principle which has helped make us what we are.

From my personal point of view, I fell out with England the football team when it started to become commercialised. Gascoigne, the f***ing idiot, crying and wearing a pair of plastic tits and all the daft idiots with no interest in football suddenly latched onto it. I loved England, the team, in the '80s, because it was a genuine then rather than fashionable. In those days, football fans were scorned as opposed to today when every idiot and his dog has an opinion on the game and matches on a Saturday. The commercialisation of the game killed England the team and to an extent league football, not multi-Culturalism - in my opinion.

Everything's Germanic if you want to take things back to the start.

But, actually, our language is a mixture of French and Old Norse. French and English ran alongside one another after the Norman conquest, so we have two words in our language which mean the same thing, for example: chance is French; luck is Old Norse.

The Germanic tribes migrated everywhere so you could say that everyone in Central and Western Europe is Germanic speaking a Germanic language, but that's not really what you meant and you were wrong. Our language as we know it is as much French and Old Norse as German.

I love where I come from, my family and my long term friends, to love a country is like loving a stamp. its meaningless.

Sorry, haven't read the whole thread yet but......

Liverpool fans are the worst. I'm on a footy thread on whatsapp with a fair few of them, cousins mates and that. The reaction to Suarez scoring against us was disgusting.

"Don't know if I should celebrate or not"

"That's what happens when you give the greatest player in the world room" etc etc

Total dickwads

Then there was this bitch who came into work while the match was on asking if we had got beat yet? Says she can't wait until we're out so the country can turn back to normal. I could only give the biggest hackies in the world, would have loved to punch her in her cabbage.

Losers the lot of them.

I'm all for a multicultural England if it benefits all, especially if immigrants come here to better themselves which in turn betters us. I love being a working class man,n my only problem is the people who come here to sponge, kill our beliefs stone dead and make us out to be bad people. I couldn't care if sum1 was pink purple black blue Asian Sikh Muslim Jewish or a full blown nazi if they want to embrace our culture.
I'm probably only about average intelligence which is why my points come accross racist.this is not my aim

You are correct with your view of where it started going wrong, there in lies the problem take 1990 with that bellend gazza n the tits n tears that made us feel part of it,made them seem human, they are no longer that, they are machines and pampered to death. I feel no passion to a playstation, watching England is like watching a computer game,an overall unfulfilling experience

What a lovely little phrase, it probably all started going wrong when the Mammoths died..............

almost all modern european languages descend from sanskrit not german, the major exception is magyar( hungary and finland)

english is a germanic language not latin, we say " red bus" the latins (french) say " bus red"

old english became middle english after the editions of norman french and norse words , english and french did not run along side on aother, french was spoken at court and by the ruling elite , english by the population, thats why the animals are english words and the cuts of meat french

in the 13th or 14th century there was something called the " inkhorn controversy" it was when scholars added(made up) the latin based words to describe science

in western europe we have france ( germanic tribe the franks) who speak a latin language , spain the vandals and visigoths iirc and italy the lombards all Germanic tribes none of which speak germanic languages

english is a germanic language with later norman french, norse and latin additions

that sir is a matter of historical fact

you can keep the change
