Pease Pudding.

Cook a gammon or ham in the slow cooker and then use the left over meaty water to make the pease pudding. The pease pudding tastes much nicer that using plain water or veggie stock.

I chuck the yellow split peas in the slow cooker with the meaty water, some cracked black pepper and the shredded meat crumbs after carving the joint.
I do that and add mint and peas and break up the gammon for a lovely winter soup.

@Becs put a recipe up which I have stolen and tweaked and now bask in its glory.

Put a gammon joint in the slow cooker (just a crap £4 gammon will do)
Top up to top with water
Add 2 bay leaves and pepper (I put plenty in)
Slow cook till it’s falling apart, about 3 hours.
Remove gammon and bay leaves, add 500g yellow split peas to the hammy watta. Can put some shredded gammon in if you like.
cook until gloriousness is achieved. About 2 - 3 hours.

They used to serve it at Green Terrace primary school - it was so bad I haven't eaten it since (50+ years ago). Same with liver - just the thought makes me nauseous.

Maybe I should give them both another go.
